Why is opera mini still faster than opera mobile with turbo?
What is the difference between opera mini and opera mobile with turbo enabled? Don't both compress webpages on Opera's servers? If so, why is mini still much faster at rendering pages?30. April 2012, 15:21:21 (edited)
Opera Mobile: Opera Mobile supports Javascript, HTML5, etc. It has to load all the variables with compression. Using Opera Turbo servers is optional. Opera Turbo compresses webpages upto 75%. (In very rear cases: upto 80%)
Opera Mini: Opera Mini has its own "Opera Mini Compression Servers".
You can't ignore those servers. Opera Mini servers generally compress webpages upto 85%.
So, you have to wait for some more seconds on Opera Mobile than Opera Mini. Opera Mobile is known for webpage's clearity and all the functions.
Opera Mini is known for its crazy lightning speed!

So opera mini and opera mobile (with turbo) use different servers? Whereas opera mini pretty much rewrites the webpage for it to be as small as possible and mobile turbo compresses anything it can, while trying to preserve the page's intended design as much as possible?

Now, you've got it.

Opera Mobile doesn't have its own servers. It's a mobile version of Opera Desktop. Opera desktop and Opera Mobile use Opera Turbo Servers when Opera Turbo is on.
But when it's off, both use webpage's servers. I've already mentioned that "Using Opera Turbo is optional".

correct me im wrong bit i think Mini is in a sense just a .obml reader which is a page converted from its servers.
@ liquifiedsoul:
Yes. Opera Mini reads .OBML pages which are rendered from Opera Mini compression servers…
