Flash broken after update.

I just updated my flash to 11.2.202.235 and I get the following prompt when I try to watch a youtube video:

And generally nothing flash-related works. I tried to reinstall but no good. IE and FF work just fine after the update.
I also tried to roll back to 11.2.202.233, but Flash on my Opera is bonkers.

What gives?

I tried also by uninstalling Flash (for non-IE) uninstalling Opera and completely wiping out all the userdata. Then reinstalling Opera and Flash. In FF Flash works normally, while in Opera it doesn't.

Same problem here. I uninstalled then reinstalled both Opera and Adobe Flash. Flash works great with Chrome and Firefox. Opera? Nothing. All plugins are enabled, so what gives? Opera was my default browser but not anymore. mad

After many tries I finally got Flash installed on Opera. Most sites now work, except YouTube. The playback is very slow and jerky. Sound is garbled and has an annoying echo. I have no problems with any Flash video in my other browsers. Only Opera appears to no longer support YouTube, and I will make a note of that on my video site. mad

How do you work that out?

YouTube is working fine in Opera. I am also using flash plugin 11.2.202.235

When reporting site problems, please provide a link. Not all videos on YouTube are the same.

I have the same trouble. The plug-in is highly unstable, and many websites relaying on flash are essentially bricked. Websites like Youtube and Grooveshark are currently a no go.

Ehm, I had the solution, but I cannot find the thread sad

Go to opera:config, search for "delayed" and turn off the delayed script execution. I checked it, and it's currently *on* on my system. Either way, when I changed the setting and restarted Opera, everything worked. Before changing that specific option, restarting didn't help. I tried two times, FB and Youtube and any site with flash and javascript would just hang forever.

Ditto, but above solution didn't work for me.

Since update to v12.00 flash content doesn't work, both audio and video.

Solved. Last Opera update must have wiped association to flash player. Reinstalling flash solved problem.

Total lack of response from Opera on this, though, is a bit weird.

NOT solved. After reinstalling flash and getting it to work, discover after restart this morning that flash has been wiped in Opera again. Flash has consistently been fine in Firefox.

my only problems with Flash in O12 is that the return from full-screen quite regularly doesn't work correctly and the canvas does not show the feed. I have to reload the page to see it again.

Opera support now HAVE solved this. For me, it was a problem with a wacom plugin. Go to opera:plugins and disable Wacom Dynamic Link Library.

For some it's solved, for some it is NOT. I do not even have that plugin on my list. Reinstalled the flash player with no fix. Any suggestions?

Flash movies, including from YouTube, are played normally for me. Can you post a link where movie isn't played by Opera and Flash Player?

Go to this side and deacativate html5. http://www.youtube.com/html5?gl=DE&hl=de

Then you should be able to open teh flash menu again. smile

Fixed the problem. Deleting all files in the "roaming" folder of opera (not the folders inside) solved the issue. A few files have to cause, that no video will load (even with html5-test disabled wink) Just didn't deleted some files (like urlfilter, bookmarks...) and it works... Never had such a problem for just one site.

If Flash doesn't work after the latest update of 11.3.300.268 just released a couple of days ago, with Opera 12, it could be either your Anti-Virus is scanning the Plug In Wrapper, which should be turned off not to scan that or it could be you have Real Player with a browser download button that has to be disabled or it conflicts with the Flash Player.

Or if your PC has a slow CPU of less than 2GHZ (single core) you wont be able to play Flash in full screen. You really need a newer faster CPU at least dual core or quad core, etc. for full screen HD.

Problem with Youtube persists. The sound is distorted with a nasty kind of echo for all videos I tried.

Now using Opera 12.01. I noticed the problem a few days ago while still using Opera 11.64. (Firefox is OK).
Re-installed latest Flash. I also had installed adobe Shockwave recently.
I am in the HTML5 trial. Disabling it turns the video screen all black without controls. Restarting Opera after disabling the trial, I find I am in it again.
The delayed script execution mentioned by MRN above is not ticked.
I do not have the wacom plugin mentioned above.
If it's not in the computer, it doesn't exist.

Got YouTube to work again!!!

Site preferences - do NOT identify as Internet Explorer. I changed that to Identify as Firefox and it worked perfectly so all is well again. Phew. That took a long time but it was well worth it. Opera is once again doing everything it did in 11.64 though it still uses a LOT of memory but I have lots so it's not a problem.

"unchecking the box in Settings | Preferences | Content | Enable plug-ins only on demand."

In my Opera: uncheck the box in Tools | Preferences | Advanced | Content | Enable plug-ins only on demand.

So glad to have it back!

I've had a similar issue. I recently upgraded Opera to 12.01, and as well upgraded Flash to 11.3.... And I wasn't sure which upgrade did it, but it killed all use of Flash altogether. Everything that needed Flash was gone, all I got was errors saying I needed to install Flash. Even after repeated
installations.

I see here that everyone seems to have a different "fix" that worked for them. My Flash is now fully functional again. Here is what worked for me:

In Opera, I went to "Tools -> "Advanced" -> "Plugins" .... and noticed that there were TWO versions of Flash enabled... my old one was 7,0,63,0 and the new one 11,3,306,268.

I disabled (unenabled) the old version and voila. Flash apps, Youtube, everything all back and running perfectly.

yes

Hope this helps...

Frank
P.S. You may have to turn on the "menu bar" in order to see the "tools" option to begin with...

Yo’ da man bjdobson, thanks! I followed your fix and… it fixed it. I made Opera identify as Firefox for Youtube site and that site worked. But strangely, for other sites with embedded Youtube videos to work, Opera had to identify as IE for them.

Here’s a theory for Opera developers to consider.

So, I’ve just discovered that since making Opera identify as Firefox instead of IE at the Youtube site, they’ve left me out of the trial of HTML5 video. Before, they had included me and I couldn’t opt out. Based on this observation, I’ll venture a speculative explanation for my case.

According to my theory, the problem is caused by the Youtube trial of HTML5 video which is not supported by Opera. Apparently, Youtube considers IE as a supported browser for the trial, but not Firefox. Consequently, when I was identifying Opera as IE they included me. But since I wasn’t really using IE, my Opera browser was not in fact supported, hence the problem. And now that I’m identifying as Firefox they’ve left me out of the trial and the problem stopped.

The Opera update is irrelevant to the issue but got the blame because it was accidentally timed close to the Youtube trial. But in fact, the problem with me also occurred when I reverted to Opera 11.64, proving that the version didn’t matter.

With Win XP: Vers. 12.1 works with youtube, ain't with flash or vimeo.
Now I downgraded from 12.1. to 11.64 again. And everything wroks perfectly.
The older version is not only better, but much faster too than 12.1.

I can't even get Opera to find the plug-in, much less show it. I know it's there. I even checked the flash player install logs and they show a build with Opera. I don't have Wacom nor HTML5 so those aren't my issues. If anyone can help, I'd be grateful. I can't see the vids on the BBC online site nor on NASA any more! Ok and not on Hulu either. I don't view YouTube much but ptobsbly not them either.

Thank you!

Only problem with your theory is I was never in the HTML5 trial and everything stopped working for me. As I stated awhile ago, some of the things here fixed it for me but I don't think it was just the HTML5 trial that did anything. Just my thoughts smile

Disabling Hardware Acceleration in the Flash Player settings worked for me. Can now watch BBC live news feed in Full Screen mode in opera 12.01 with Flash ver 11.4.402.265 !.

Right mouse click on the Video stream page to bring up the Flash Player menu and then select 'Settings' to configure.

Just another couple of things to try - I had the sound distortion when playing videos full screen (only in Opera, not in any other browser I tried) so I left the HTML5 trial (seem to have joined it without any help from me!), ENabled hardware acceleration by right clicking on a video then choosing settings, set Opera to identify as Firefox, DISABLED the Google Earth and Google Update plugins which were lurking behind the scenes, then restarted Opera.

Not sure if one or more of these things contributed to the fix but it's now working ok.

I should add that I had this problem on a very low-spec PC with not much RAM.

Shouldn't be this difficult though, should it? Opera is a bit of a geek's browser rather than one which will win the hearts and minds of the masses.whistle
