My bug report on the mail module is not included (description inside).

Hello. I reported small bug when current Opera for Windows (version 11.64) was not released. I used the form in Wizard at: https://bugs.opera.com/wizard but bug still exists. I explain what's going on. When we switch in Mail menu to RSS Feeds view and we click on button on tool bar to check and read new entries in our feeds and we select some feed from menu on left a SECOND message is highlighted not FIRST one. So probable some Opera coder make mistake and use 1 instead of 0 as first index in source code. In previous versions about 11.X - as far as I remember, message was highlihted correctly. I know is not a big bug, but maybe some person who is response for developing and bug fixing read this and fixt it. Thanks in advice and sorry for my bad English.

It may take minutes, hours, days, weeks, months or even years for a bug to be fix. A bug reported today will not necessarily be fixed on the next release.

Which Mail Menu? And which button?

Afaik, Opera will highlight the oldest message when you go to Feeds > Read Feeds. Or a message that was previously highlighted by the user.

The same will happen if you use the panel to select/read the feeds.

Sorry I unfortunetly deleted mail confirmation after bug report - my fault. Report was from oles [at] o2.pl if it can be found in this way. That was my only report at this moment. Anyway, to be precise: I meant no "Mail" menu. I meant menu on left from "Mail" menu. In Polish version it called "Kanały", so probable in English it will be "Feeds" or something like that. I choose option "Read information" and when I got new entries from subscibed RSS Feeds if I even choose Feed which was empty beofre always second message (feed) entry is highlighted - not first one. So if in previous version first one was selected I thought it is a bug. With low priority and no securitythreat, but still a bug.

So, you have the "Menu" bar showing and you click on the "Feeds" menu on the "Menu" bar and choose "Read Feeds" to open the message list that shows all feed messages. Or, you click on the "Feeds" menu on the "Menu" bar and chose an individual feed item to open a message list that just shows messages for that feed.

Then, in either case, if when you closed the list last time, you had the 1st message selected or there were no messages selected (because the list was empty), when opening the list again, the second message in the list is always selected, even in the case where the list was empty and now had new messages.

So, I think I understand correctly what you're saying. However, I'm not able to reproduce that problem. Opera always remembers the last-selected message for me.

How to you have your feed lists sorted? Are you sorting by date in descending order? Do you have "group by date" set? What mail layout are you using? Is it "list and message on right"? (See <http://my.opera.com/operawiki/forums/findpost.pl?id=11017032>).

I'd test in a standalone installation of 11.64 to see if you can still reproduce the problem. If you can't, it's probably just something messed up with your mail folder or profile or something.

Glad to hear you understand my report because my English is poor and I know that. But like you see at screenshot below this RSS feed was not selected before and if some RSS feed was not selected before before refreshing new messages/rss entries it always highlight second entry, not first one. Maybe it is still possible to fix it.

Still can reproduce the problem. Can you reproduce it in a standalone installation?

Now I know how to reproduce it. To save my config I closed Opera, and renemed subdirs "Opera" to "_Opera" in both localizations %APPDATA%\OPERA and %LOCALAPPDATA\OPERA and start Opera without any config and for fast tests I go to these sites from main sites url (but probabable it will work for other RSS sites):

http://whdload.de/news.xml
http://www.kapitan-bomba.com/feed/rss/

And first subscribed to WHDLoad's RSS and after see new feeds first one (ok) was highlighted. Now I go to Kapitan Bomba RSS and after subscribed I receive new feeds and when I switch to them SECOND one (not first) was highlighted. So my question is: it is correct? Why older versions of Opera always highlight first one from list when I recevied feeds to empry list. If it is not a bug, then ok, but it is a little bit annoying for me ;/ So maybe it can be fixed somehow in next versions.

You didn't have to do that to try with a separate profile. The standalone installation link I mentioned shows a much easier way.

I can't reproduce the problem. When subscribing to a new feed, the first message is selected. And, when I subscribe to the second message, the first message for it is selected too. Feeds -&gt Read Feeds has the first message selected too.

So, your directions aren't enough for me to reproduce the problem. I'm using Win7 x64.

The behavior you're seeing doesn't sound correct to me.

But note that after you've subscribed to a feed and Opera has fetched addition messages, when more messages come in, the first messages should be selected then. The second shouldn't either. It should be specifically the message you had selected last.

For me, Opera highlights the last message I read, I have to scroll (or use the Home key) to get to the top of the list.
