sprechen - download? ja - download fehlgeschlagen

This is about Opera's TTS. Im using the uptodate German version of Opera on WinXP prof. When I rightclick a text and select "sprechen" (TTS) it says I will have to download some 11mb or so. Yes/No? Yes -> Download fehlgeschlagen (=download failed). I found more people on the net with the same problem.

Unfortunately the IBM ViaVoice libraies Opera's "Speak" feature relies on are not being supported by IBM, and the feature is being discontinued.

But it would help if you had (a) posted in the right forum (Opera browser), and (b) given your thread title in English ...

I think you should remove the TTS button then.

the SPEAK part of Opera gone: well we for one (my whole group) are going back to a old version of opera. it is sad that now we cant have it read to us and teaching lacks because of it so sad.. the group of 103 votes put it back......

It still works in Opera 12.00, though for other reasons I am still using Opera 11.64.

When they finally fix Opera 12.xx, you can upgrade 11.64 and enable VoiceXML to make Voice work for Opera 12.
