Pretty Slow Downloads
Guys, this is the definite best browser i ever seen, but the downloads go pretty slow,it sead 20 minutes for a 80 MB file or something,i tried to enable Opera Turbo to see if it will fix it,but it didn't.What can I do?My Internet connection is fast so it shouldn't be the problem.-----------------------------
Thanks for your Time!
I have the same problem, opera on my droid downloads faster than my PC... my PC connection is orders of magnitude faster. It just doesn't make any sense. I wonder if there's a bottleneck somewhere or if the bandwidth allocation can be changed.

Opera Turbo is a proxy server that stores highly compressed web pages to speed up browsing on slow connections. It won't have the slightest effect on download speed.
Try changing the number of connections to server in Preferences, Network. (I am using the default settings)
Maybe antivirus or something is slowing things down. On a 10 mbit cable b/b connection with Virgin Media using Avast free antivirus, I don't find that a 200 Mbyte LibreOffice download takes anywhere near 20 minutes — more like two or three 1178 KB/s

I don't know about Operalovah2, but It happens with every download I've ever had on Opera. I use it on the old laptop I'm on now as well as my gaming laptop and desktop. Ive never seen a download faster than 215kb/s. The strange thing is, that multiple downloads will run at over 1MB/s combined, but a singular download won't. I've tried closing the download and using "another" web browser and downloaded at speeds over 1MB/s. So, I know that it's Opera and not the servers. For instance, I just flashed this laptop to use as my media center. I'm downloading Norton. It's a 1.5gig file that is taking 2 hours to download. I'd give a link, but I'm downloading from the Army Knowledge Online servers.
edit: checked, it's not off the main servers, maybe you can access it... link to download

It's asking for a password.
What are your settings for maximun connections to a server and maximum total connections?
Also, any antivirus being used? If so, check with it disabled to see if the download is still slow.

128 on the connections, disabled mcafee, restarted the download. Was at 2.1MB/s for about five seconds then dropped to 200KB/s. Streaming videos are fast, its only when I'm using the "downloads" tab. Ran the speed test from the other poster and passed it with flying colors. In browser downloads and streaming are fine...
I got the default 16,im gonna try and use 128,what difference would it make?
looks like the globe is havin the same problem. It always goes on 40 mb downloads to be 4 more minutes then its starting to encrease the time its self. TROLOLOLOL
