Opera 11.64 Wont Play Media Video Files

Anything that requires windows media player to play a video will not play on Opera 11.64 yet it plays fine on Firefox?

Any that use Flash play fine, it's the ones that want to use my media player seem to have a problem, and yes, I have given it permission on my firewall.

I have I believe a similar problem with BBC news site, reports I do not have Flash player loaded when Opera says it is loaded and other news websites allow video clips to play correctly. Have tried Firefox and mostly all works.
Am using Opera 11.64 and windows XP. Normally I set Opera to report as Firefox as this stops most problems with ending up on "mobile" site or just getting an error message as the site does not recognise or dislikes Opera!

Please provide an exact URL where the problem shows. Did you install the Windows Media Player plugin from http://www.interoperabilitybridges.com/windows-media-player-firefox-plugin-download ?

The Firefox people have a nice test page to check if it is installed properly: http://hg.mozilla.org/qa/litmus-data/raw-file/tip/firefox/plugins/mediaplayer.html

Thanks for such a quick response.

Yes I have the plug-in loaded and the test page runs correctly.
The BBC site url is <http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-asia-18202053> and the message displayed below picture of Penguin 337 is (Cannot play media. You do not have the correct version of the flash player. Download the correct version). This is typical of what happens on many of their pages.
I am Confused.

^^ Seem to work properly for me.

I was thinking what if flash and shockwave plugins came built in with the browser. The browser takes care of the updating process .etc

When I click on that test page above it brings up a small windows media player mplayer2, but nothing happens, but if I use Firefox 3.6.28 it plays in a small version of windows media 9 series player, and this time after connecting it plays the short video.

I won't be able to use that plugin due to operating system limits, so I am stuck with Windows Media 9 series, however I am confused why the mplayer2 opens and does nothing on Opera 11.64, but the 9 series WMP works on Firefox3.6.28 when using this link http://hg.mozilla.org/qa/litmus-data/raw-file/tip/firefox/plugins/mediaplayer.html

The long and the short of this is why is Opera 11.64 trying to use version 6.4 of Windows Media Player when I have version 9 installed and it works on Firefox?
