Music and Video

What MyOpera needs is a music player and a video player like You Tube.
I am browned off with the commercials interfering with the videos on YouTube. I am sure Opera techs can do better than that.

They contained a DDOS attack after all. They are pretty hot stuff.

Also required a way of keeping part of a tab open to watch video whilst working on another tab.
At the moment I am forced to have two windows open to watch TED talks whilst doing other stuff.

I suppose I could get another video card to watch two screens or a bigger screen to watch tweo wiundows but I only need a 5th of a screen to watch a Tec talk. How manyyers before a browser that can cope with that is released?

BTW, do I have to use an older version of Opera to have two Opera browsers workingf side by side?
I think I can have two identical versions of Firefox open at the same time.

Opera can cope with it now - or 10 years ago even. Like pop-ups, regular tabs can be "Restored" so that they look like mini windows inside Opera (in fact, I always browse that way). The one thing Opera doesn't have is an "Always on top" feature for tabs. Just Restore your tabs (or even Tile them to save the resize and move you'd have to do after that) and you can have one on the left and one on the right.

But you're off-topic for this forum, your second post should have been in Opera browser as a separate thread. (I can do that, but I'm sure you'd wonder where your post went so I'm leaving it for now.)

Not at all

How to create a secondary Opera user profile (XAntares method adapted by MM):
  1. Create a new shortcut to the main "Opera" shortcut icon
  2. Right click on the shortcut file and select "Properties"
  3. In the "Properties" dialogue, select the tab, called "Shortcut" in XP
  4. In the "Shortcut" tab, add the following in "Target" field after "..\Opera\opera.exe". (Note there's a space before -pd)
     -pd "%AppData%\Opera\Opera-2"
You can also rename this second shortcut eg "Second Opera", etc
  5. Save
Clicking the saved shortcut will create a new user profile.

This method using -pd is a relatively new feature. You'll need to have the latest version (11.61) to use it AFAIK.

That's a matter of opinion. MyOpera will work in other browsers but most of us use Opera Browser for consolidating the other service.

Since the browser techies also come on here, they should be able to see the sense of having what I suggest and would, presumably, have to work hand in hand with the community team.

It is something that only applies to desk tops as having more than one page open at a time on a mobile is ridiculous. It's a facility the browser would only need to offer to a community, in any case, as the reason for the product is to share the stuff directly from one page to the other for such things as re-editing what is on one page and placing it into the other; making comments or directing attention etc.

Are you talking about the browser or the site? If the site, MyOpera supports HTML5 audio / video. You may want to use YouTube fallback if you use that method since not all browser *cough* IE8 and older *cough* supports HTML5.

Also, be sure to have two files, MP4 and webm since IE9 / Safari only supports MP4 while all other browsers supports WebM (don't know about Firefox. Last I heard, it only supports .ogg).
