Desktop? Presumably you must be set to use the generic X file dialogs or you wouldn't even see that option ...

No, Linux desktop (as in, KDE, Gnome, LXDE, etc.)

If you're using KDE, Gnome or XFCE, then Opera should automatically choose save or open dialogs that match your desktop. If you're using Enlightenment or some other unusual desktop - or just running Opera with no desktop, only a bare X client - then Opera will draw its own dialogs. (I'm not certain what happens with LXDE, never tried that one.) Though there is also a setting to force Opera to use a specific set of dialogs even if your desktop would normally lead to other dialogs being used.

The entire "Interface Colors" section is only supposed to be available when Opera is generating its own dialogs; if Opera is using KDE or Gnome/XFCE dialogs then it should also be using the colors you have set for that desktop. Hence if I'm using the KDE dialogs - or when I'm running Windows - I have no "Scrollbar Background" setting.

You've set Dialog Toolkit to 4? Otherwise as far as I know the option shouldn't be there.

Hmm ... strangely, I am seeing it in 12.0 RC3 with KDE. Of course, if you're using 12.0 you're posting in the wrong forum - so I'll move this to Beta testing.
