Not seeing images in opera maiclient in received

Since the update I'm not able to see the attached pictures in received mails. Ex:

IS this a bug or i have to enable something "new". (the setting of prefer plain text is disabled).

Opera version: 12
Platform/operating system: Windows 7 x64
Are you using IMAP or POP3? Pop
Which e-mail service are you using? ISP

This in a new problem in previous version it work correctly

Open up the message and click on the From address in the header bar. Choose "load images from this contact" to see if that helps.

Or, uncheck opera:config#Suppress%20External%20Embeds if you don't want to deal with remove images being blocked for everyone by default where you add exceptions.

"Ctrl + F12 -> advanced -> toolbars"
"Ctrl + F12 -> advanced -> shortcuts"
"Shift + F12 -> skin"

When upgrading, you might want to reset your toolbar setup, menu setup, keyboard setup and skin back to "Opera Standard" and then re-customize your toolbars. Then, you might want to also click the wrench icon on the mail panel toolbar and reset the mail panel to defaults.

That way, you can be sure you're using the newest entries and buttons etc. and not some old stuff that might cause problems.

I'm having the same problem since upgradng to Opera 12. Mail i receive with images (jpeg, gif, etc) included are not shown. The only way i can get the image to show is to right click on the image and press 'reload image' - I don't want to do this every time. I would like these images to load automatically. When i reply to the email, the picture is shown in the reply.

I have tried all the options suggested, but nothing is working. Is there anything else I can do to get the images to show?

Hi There
I upgraded to opera 12 yesterday and I am having the same problem.
Just a blank box where the image should be + information like ...image .jpg at the top of the square
I tried the suggestion.... about opera:config#Suppress%20External%20Embeds
but it doesn't work.
Any other ideas?

Exactly the same problem here. Scrolling down through my "Received" folder, none of the attached images are showing, unless I click on "reload images" as suggested by paweaver. Tried all of burnout426's suggestions to no avail.
All was fine prior to the upgrade to 12.

It appears to me (with only limited testing) that the image doesn't show when i have 'Fit to Width' checked [Default Mail Settings - spanner at top of mail panel]. When i uncheck this, then the image is shown (after unchecking this, i have to move to a different email and then when i return to the original email with the image, the image is visible and seems to remain so from then on).

Is this the same with the rest of you who have this problem?

Well done paweaver,
Unchecking "fit to width" in the mail settings drop-down fixed the problem for me, too!
Many thanks.

Hmm,

Sitting here with the same problem (suppose it happened after Opera updated a few days ago).

I can't find the mentioned option at all!
Neither under the email settings button (spanner) menu nor anywhere under the Opera button menu or in the main menu bar options.
Can someone please be more detailed about where that option is supposed to be?

I forgot to mention:
Not being able to see embedded images in received mail is not my only issue: it also applies to embedding images in new mails as well.
Before the upgrade I was able to "add image" and the image showed exactly where I put it, even when the mail still being written.
If I currently embed an image the image doesn't show up: it just shows a small rectangle with a word in it like "image" (in my case, Dutch, the word is "Figuur").
If I receive that email back I still see the replacing button (can use the RMB menu to open the image, though).
If I reply to the received back email then I DO see the images in the part of the email that contains the previous text and embedded images.
If I receive the reply back again the images have been replaced by those "buttons".

So as it looks now I'm not able to send or receive my own email with embedded images showing.

Look at the bar above the mail window. Click the icon on the far right
You should see a dialog box with "mail layout" at the top
Look down the list and you should see a check box "fit to width"
Uncheck it
Hope that helps

I am adding my name to this list. When I uncheck the fit width option, it worked briefly, but then went back to the old behavior.

This is broken for me as well.

- Cannot see images when authoring an email (only a box saying "Image" is shown)
- Cannot see images in incoming emails unless I choose "reload image"

Is this the right place to suggest a feature enhancement, now that you have the hood open on the email code? When authoring an email, I would like the ability to drag and drop an image into the message, as an alternative to using the "Insert" menu. The image should be placed at the cursor position. Possible?

Add me to the list. The screen is completely blank. Under size, it shows something is there.
Funny thing, when I go to forward that e-mail the image does show! bigeyes

I tried to send it back to myself, but the same thing (even though it showed in the "forward" process).

I have the view set to "expand message", but tried it without and no difference.
I never had the "Fit to width" option showing, but after including it in the toolbar it made no difference. (Fit to width has no effect anymore in page or print preview unlike V11)

Opera V12,
XP Pro w/sp3,
POP mail through Time Warner Cable and also through Verizon DSL. I'm now using TWC, but DSL is still available (just not using it).
No firewall, no blockers, DMZ through my router.
Less is better, Keep it simple, New isn't always better.
Make the command line file option a sticky.
