Is there anything modern like the Breeze Simplified Micro theme?
So my absolute favorite theme of all time for any browser ever has been the Breeze Simplified theme for Opera (and at one time there was an attempt to create something kind of like it for Firefox, so for a short time Firefox actually looked good too on the very rare times I still used it back then -- this was back before it turned into the bloated mess it is now. The ultimate irony is that the original skin that Breeze was based on was for Mozilla.) To borrow a screenshot from the official page:
Unfortunately, this theme has been forgotten and lost over the years without a single update since 2006. Now this theme has aged well and even though it was last updated for Opera 9 a very long time ago it has served me pretty well even with 10 and 11 as much as they changed things. Unfortunately, 12 has made a few more changes it seems and the theme is finally starting to really show its age around the edges. Just for instance:

Notice how the status bar (when loading pages) comes up black. That's black text on a black background... The bar with the back/forward/reload and etc is always black, not just when loading. These are supposed to be white by the theme. (Note that the "color scheme" is set to none.) As I recall there were a few other things that kind of were lost along the way when going from Opera 9 to 10 (or 10 to 11, I forget) so I guess it's about time to find something newer already instead of always relying on a theme that hasn't been updated in six years.
So is there anything that's similar in look? I like how it does slightly rounded edges on buttons, text boxes (including the multi-line box I'm tying this in for instance) and of course it probably goes without saying, but that minimal design with maximum space saving is of the utmost importance. Unfortunately, I'm just not really up to doing my own skin right now, so I'm really hoping that there's something else out there that's at least close already?

I have updated the Breeze II skin (not the micro) and it now largely works with Opera 12.01 (32 bit Windows). Due to the difficulty in uploading it via the official skins site (which seems now to be just a store of fancy backgrounds) you can find it via my blog at http://my.opera.com/davews/blog/2012/08/07/breeze-skin-for-opera-12
I cannot guarantee it is perfect, in fact there remains one nasty in that the 'show speed dial' button on a new tab is black but I can live with that as I don't use speed dial anyway. And there may of course be other things that my own configuration fails to show. But you are welcome to use it.

I'm definitely glad to see that and it does help a bit. I don't suppose you could consider doing the "simplified" version of the theme? It's even more space efficient (the toolbar at the top is a bit smaller just for instance) so works better with things like my netbook in particular. (1024x600 resolution is nice and wide, but very little vertical space to work with.)
BTW, I definitely do use the speed dial (and can't imagine how anyone could now that it's there) but there's definitely no harm from what you're talking about. Mind you, my preference is to have each blank tab open with the speed dial rather than clicking on any links to get there.

I am not really into skin writing, and the mods I did were largely based on suggested changes here and elsewhere. I am not in a position (or have the time) to do it on other skins, sorry. I suspect the number of people who really understand skins is diminishing and will get worse with the lower importance of skinning within Opera management.
