Can't Permanently "Identify as Internet Explorer"
I use Propel Accelerator for my dialup connection, and it worked in Opera 8.54 only because I was able to have it "Identify as Internet Explorer" (because Identify as Opera would make Propel compress nothing at all). But in Opera 9.0, I can't figure out how to have it ID as IE permanently; I can only do it for individual sites. Any ideas?

You can grab the ID dropdown menu from Tools > Appearance > Buttons > Preferences and drag it to any toolbar you like.
opera:config#UserAgent|SpoofUserAgentID
The settings are:
Browser to identify as
Opera = 1
Mozilla = 2
Internet Explorer = 3
Mozilla, no Opera mention = 4
Internet Explorer, no Opera mention = 5

Correct. Do they require the same thing from Mozilla browsers?I think you should ask Propel Accelerator for why they require the user-agent ID to be Internet Explorer... this problem seems to be caused by them, not by Opera. It would be interesting to see what they say.

To change your UA globally, the setting is here:

Thanks. That worked for me after the Opera 9.0 download had changed my settings to identify as Opera. But why delete the shortcut, especially to substitute things like "Nostalgia" in the View menu? I can't believe anyone would use that for more than about 5 seconds .... even the most geekish geek!
This has changed with Opera 9, now Opera identifies itself as Opera by default and has individual site preferences so you can still ID as a different browser when needed. A shortcut to globally ID as a different browser is no longer desirable in the scheme of things.

Even though the document says it's updated for 9.0, the "Spoof UserAgent ID" still shows defaulting to 3 when in 9.0 it's 1.
BTW, in regards to 21, isn't that only going to be overwritten with the next ugprade? Shouldn't you put changes to menus in your "menu" directory in your profile?
