Opera stops displaying websites

I've been using Opera for almost 5 years now and I've put up with most of its quirks and whatnot, but up until now I didn't have a problem that would make me think about another browser. Now I do. I'm running the latest Opera 12, my OS is WinXp and since the last upgrade things are really going downhill. As I am browsing everything freezes, that's the best way to describe what's happening. I can still switch between tabs but I can not interact with the content. I killed the opera_plugin_wrapper to see what happens and in some cases it works I can keep browsing and using opera. But sometimes it doesn't help. My guess is that something is happening with the Flash, because I get the "install plugin" thingy where there is flash content. How do I fix it. And why would the whole browser hang because of one not working component - Flash.
I would appreciate help and suggestions.

P.S Thinking about downgrading - the 12 version doesn't have an irc client . For what I experience with each version Opera is getting worse and not better sad That's really sad.

I would not say that Opera freezes - it continues to work but somehow nothing gets rendered.
In my setup I use Opera on 2 screens with two windows. The first one got "disturbed" this morning, the second window continued to work as usual.
@proziumwtf Is it possible to modify your thread-title? I would suggest something like "Opera stops displaying websites" or something like that.

Opera 12 has an IRC client - except for the Mac version. Why would you think otherwise?

My bad, Opera has an irc client, I tried to access the opera irc severs by putting irc://irc.blabla.bla and it failed to start the client, so I figured that it's removed. So is there any solution to the freezing/not rendering problem ?

Not certain yet since I'm still trying to figure out the cause. If it is Flash, then maybe disabling plugins for a moment (from the F12 menu) would make Opera clean it up - or maybe not.

I've been an Opera user since "fits on a 1.44 MB floppy" was Opera's claim to fame. At least 10 years; probably 12. Each release has been an improvement or at least worked as well as the previous. NOT Opera 12. Unite apps don't work. Most sites I go to don't work. The damn thing basically doesn't work. Strangely, I used 12 beta and didn't have these issues.

I downgraded to Opera 11.64 today, and everything works again! - including Unite apps. WTF?

It is getting harder and harder to stay with Opera. I never have any trouble with Chrome (however, using a Google product frosts my @ass, so I do it as little as possible). Still, I may have to go with Chrome unless Opera gets it's act together I'm really sorry to say.

While I'm at it, Safari's "reader" feature is the most useful web browser feature I seen in a long time, even more than tabs. It used to be that Opera innovated. I guess it is Google and Apples time now...

So the way to go is downgrading ? Anything I should know before I downgrade? Can I just download the installer and let it install in the same directory as opera 12 ? Or should I remove the current version totally and then go for a clean install ? Any input will be helpful.
Thanks in advance.

P.S Still staying with Opera because I use it on my tablet too and it performs great there. And it used to perform great on the PC ....

If you use mail, you'll lose your messages if you downgrade.

I don't. So I pretty much let the installer do the job ? And I still get to keep all the wand passwords and current session?
