Wii Opera Internet Browser Hang Problem

This may be an outdated inquiry, but I am really confused.

For some time (the early years), my web site would easily load into the Wii browser.

WEBSITE: www.mywiferocksproductions.com

At some point (maybe years ago), but still to this day, my website never finishes loading into the browser.

I have flash games that I want to play with the wiimote and was able to do so in the past.

Now the browser just hangs: the progress bar moves about an inch then loading stops, progress stops, and the wheel next to the hand just keeps on turning.

I have tried this on three different wii's, all of them open other html/flash sites with no problem, but my site just hangs (frustrating!)

Could others on this form check and see if it is perhaps my internet/router settings by seeing if they can get my page load on thier Wii consoles?

WEBSITE: www.mywiferocksproductions.com

The pages and flash files load fine on PC based browsers... It is frustrating since I used to be able to play and now cannot...

Thanks for any support possible!

You may have to split your page in half and put a "More" link at the bottom of the 1st page which when clicked loads the 2nd page (you can add a previous link to the 2nd page to go back to the 1st page). If that isn't the answer, then it's possible whatever ad/ads you have on the site may not be properly loading on your page.

If 3rd party content is not loading as they should, this will delay the loading of your website until the 3rd party content finally loads or times out. The Wii has poor RAM which doesn't allow the Internet Channel to do much at once unlike computers' and their internet browsers.

Thanks for the quick reply - wasn't sure if this board was even that active anymore.

Anyway - I changed my index.html page to just two words in html brackets: "Hello World" (of course!)...

The Wii STILL will not load this page. Other much bigger pages load anyway.

I have absolutely no explaination for why this is happening. I have deleted cookies, erased save data, reduced blocks used, deleted and redownloaded the browser... I mean come on. Why is just my site (www.mywiferocksproductions.com) the only one that behaves like this?

Could it be my web host provider and some strange setting on their end? I am about to give up completely...

I have looked at some of the images on your page and they are BMP files which are very large and heavy image files. You should convert BMP images to PNG. An image converter if you want one: http://www.irfanview.com/

I do have some other ideas, but let's see if fixing the images help any first.

Again - thank you so much for working with me on this.

Actually, the page has only one BMP image and it is not that big (49 kB). The other images are JPG and are all around 50 kB. I did attempt a conversion with the software you suggested and the resulting PNG was larger in size than the source JPG.

Is "large and heavy" accurately depicted by the filesize or is there something here I am missing?

Also, as I noted above, when I replaced the page with a bare minimum HTML page - no images at all and just two words of text, it still didn't load... this suggests to me some sort of denial based on the domain perhaps.

I am wondering if something like a reset of my router's MAC address (not even sure how to do that) would "clear the block".

I am tying to get other Wii owners to navigate to the pages and confirm that perhaps the hang is specific to my conditions...
UPDATE: I managed to have a friend check the site from his Wii and it doesn't load for him either. Could the domain be being blocked? HOWEVER, I just found out that he could load the "lite" page (index.html - only two words in HTML tags) under the wiifix directory - the plot thickens...

the main page (all content) is here: www.mywiferocksproductions.com and the bare bones page I have put here: www.mywiferocksproductions.com/wiifix/index.html and another for trial: www.mywiferocksproductions.com/wiifix/other.html

Again - thanks for your time... just another brain on this puzzle is comforting...

More clues.

If you navigate to the "way back machine" on the wii (www.archive.org), type the www.mywiferocksproductions.com URL in the "take me back" applet and hit the take me back button, the site open fine. If you click on the PLAY ONLINE link for the Star Wars game, that intro opens and plays (the game won't open since it does a domain check - but that is how it is supposed to work).

Or just click here via Wii and see for yourself: http://web.archive.org/web/20110210142302/http://mywiferocksproductions.com/

SO WHAT IS THE DEAL? WHY WON'T THE WII OPEN MY DOMAIN?

I put an email to NOA customer service, but I am not expecting to hear anything soon...

Anyone else out there got any bright ideas or conspiracy theories?

Later.

ISSUE HAS BEEN SLOVED!

Athough the exact solution is fuzzy...

So I contacted by webhosting company and asked if there was anything strange about the files they add to the site and if they knew of any reason that the Wii was hanging.

They gave me the usual "contact Nintendo" - files shouldn't hurt, etc., etc.

BUT - in the process I was reminded that the product I was using to host my site was Linux - just what I choose at the time. I was able to switch that to Windows for now charge. I was hoping that if the Windows change didn't do anything, maybe just the process of relocating the files and starting over would work.

Well, something worked anyway. I got a new IP address - which could also be a good reason the site is now loading...

Regardless of the reason, I can now happily play the flash games via my Wii. Thanks for the suggestions and I hope this post helps someone in the future that may come across this frustration...

Cheers!
