Nigeria: Fact or Fiction?

There are a lot of threads about 'Nigeria' on this forum. Does it really exist or is it just a myth?

What do you think?

Yes, because of Tory cuts I only teach part time now. I have lots of time. There again, I'm comparatively young & still have some future. You on the other hand are old & will soon be dead.

You're just being silly now. Maybe not though, soon the UK will be England & Wales with an independent Scotland. Scotland exists, I've been there. I fear after independence there will be a huge influx of Scottish immigration into England. Someone should build a huge wall between England & Scotland to control the immigration. I don't know why no one has ever thought of doing that.

I'm pretty sure America exists. I've seen it on TV.

I wouldn't be too sure of that. Young can get strokes, heart attacks, etc, more these days. You do have the arrogance and would-be self-confidence of youth but drivel must be a requisite part of teacher training these days. And the usual cry of rent-a-mob on the Left of Tory cuts. What do you think Labour would have done? They admitted they would cut when forced into a corner but always refused to say what and how much. They created the mess NOT the Tories. Labour would have just used the credit card mentality again that created the problem.

If a would-be teacher is your inkling, heaven help the children at school. I do hope you dfon't die young as I would be required to exercise a great deal of self-discipline to stop a wry smile.

You were spot on there DANBUZO with that one. Three out of thre for the now a daddy!

Oh my, I'm not the only one full of drivel here am I? What would you know about teacher training? You can barely write coherently in English.

Your lack of perspicacity never fails to amaze me. I don't support the Labour party. Why do you assume that I do? You seem trapped in some perverse political Manichean duality.

I have taught everything from A-level students to special needs for quite a few years. I take it you left school very early, as your written English is abominable. I doubt you have any self-discipline. I'm guessing senility ...

I'm so sorry to say this but your own written English is abominable, in spite of your claimed education (Degree + Masters if I remember correctly); you need to brush up on civility. Mind you, writing politely does need self-discipline .....

How about 'banduser'?

He sounds a copy of another educational know-all who used the same language and when it comes to me the same intolerance......

Judging by his attitude, it is small wonder he has a problem getting a job and would the sensible want him teaching their offspring? If the Tories didn't exist you would have to create them for him to blame as there is little else of any depth in the mouthings. One just has to look over the various stuff being uttered from him across the various threads. If there is a woman in his life, Heaven help her. Part-time is more than enough from what we are being having dished out here and just think what he would be like in a clasrom!

Answer to bolded: Somebody did. I'm really surprised that you don't know the history of the place. Ever hear of "Hadrian's Wall"?

Frightening thought: An educator in the UK who seems to have a problem with the language (as indicated by others) and who doesn't know enough history to know about the wall that once existed between England and Scotland, built before either country existed by the Romans. Here I am, a poor uneducated American who doesn't know anything beyond his own borders, telling you about it. Now, that's just sad.

Just checking the map of Africa (available wherever Internet connections exist and people have enough curiousity to look it up).

Yep, Nigeria exists. If in doubt, I could always ask to be sure. I know somebody from Nigeria, she and her family go to the same church I go to.

Frightening thought, part two: The OP is an educator, and apparently isn't sure Nigeria exists. I would be really worried if he taught my children.

Nigeria actually doesn't exist. DANBUZU, johnogaziechi and a few other users of this forum believe they're from that "country", but are the unfortunate victims of of a massive GOP plot involving mind-control, hypnosis, experimental mind-altering drugs and Irn Bru. In fact, John is my neighbor and complaining endlessly that the high today will be 113F (45C).*

Another frightening thought...you had to check the map of Africa.

Educators are always suspect. For example, Jesus was referred to as Teacher 60 times, and there's no telling what he didn't know about Africa. Of course, there was no internet. Still, he was the son of the Big Carpenter in the sky, so one wonders...something or other.

You forget Jaybro that the average American knows little about geography outside the wonderland over the pond. As for your usual didgat Jesus and teaching one takes it on that basis that every teacher is beyond reproach. Frio my practical work xperience that isn't true.

Well he did know a little about Egypt, having lived there as boy when the angel instructed his family to flee Israel. So that's a little bit. yes

Certainly. Our geography books just say "Here be dragons" with splendid illustrations of dragons over any land outside the US.

Where else would I check? It isn't in America, it isn't in Europe, nor in Asia, Australia or Antarctica. That leaves Africa. Or maybe in back of your house. Of course, that would put it in America so I guess we can rule that out.

I wonder if we can teleport it to in back of RJHowie's house. If you think his writings have been fun before now, just wait until he has hot and cold running Nigerians for neighbors.

It's a delusion, sir. There's no such country. There is, however, a beautifully rendered dragon featured where the mythical country should be in all the newest textbooks.

The RJHowie-- North America edition. Found at worse bookstores everywhere. Anything that isn't on the North American continent is off the edge of the world.

Don't know why you would bge looking for dragons outside of the 50 State Disneyland failure Sanguinemoon. Increasing unemployment, house loss, cities now going bakruot and offially going into liquidation. A Congress at constant loggerheads (33 repeats of the Health Bill nonsense costing tens of millions of doallrs for nothing), a junta of lobbyists and military really running the place. Don't know why you are worried about the outside dragons as there are a heck of lot locally?

Dear, oh dear, Chicagoan. If any country is almost off this planet it has to be yours the state it is in.Even good bookshops can supply you with excellent times on the falseness of America. You symbolise the insular nature of the majority. If the normal outside world does not accept the warped US system then they must be oddities and at worse expect to be isolated or invaded. You emphasise my point excellently yourself. I watched an interesting news item about shooting in the Windy City and the police trying to deal with it but thought maybe I shouldn't add to your woes!

A bemusing comparison between a Migerian and the regular American making a pledge when they are both countries are in a diabolical state. At least you have a pal mjsmpsrt40!

Our dragons are safely confined here:

Pictured is the Excalibur Hotel, almost within walking distance of my house, if one doesn't mind getting run over a few times along the way by tourists from California and a few crazy Brits driving on the wrong side of the road and possibly being melted into puddle by 115 degree heat. But I assure you, our dragons are tamed and kept in line by our knights. yes

You have let cloud cuckoo land over-rule the practical I am afraid Sanguinemoon. Your version of aristocracy in other words the dollar Wall Street barons who really run the country not the would be "elected" by their money run the place. That is a picture nearer the truth than the wished for picture. Your would-be knights are greedy, money grabbing and don't care a hoot about the routine citizens except as something to squeeze as much money as they can out of them.
