Login Disabled

Hi,
I have been posting this everywhere trying to get some help.

Hopefully I have found the right place now.

I can no longer access my opera webmail. My desktop mail works fine, however, I rely on webmail, plus the setup works far better for my purposes.

I try to login and it tells me my login is disabled.

I tried getting a new password and this didn't make any difference.

Can someone please help as this is so frustrating.

Many thanks. User Name - jacksonjones.

I thought I had better add a bit more info.

I received a new password and can log into myopera, however, when I click on the envelope icon to go to mail, it is asking me to log in again but it has "Login disabled" in red at the top. It also won't let me log in at all.

Your kind assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Yes - I also have the same problem so also need to know where to ask to be reunited with my email on the Opera Browser.

I mention Opera Browser, because I have tried to log in using Internet Explorer and also on an Android smart phone (using Opera there) . In both cases the login works - which is lovely but for the fact that it is the desktop Opera Browser that I use.

It all started with the new version of the Opera Browser just released.

I seem to have solved my problem and mention it in case it works for someone else.

I simply reinstalled Opera over the top of my existing installation.

Cheers

I have four addresses at "operamail.com". One of them still works ok, two have "login disabled", and one won't recognize the password any more. The address that is still working actually receives most spam, so it was most vulnerable to get hijacked by a spam bot. One of the addresses with "disabled login" wasn't used at all, the only email it has ever received was from Opera just after sign-up a few years back. The address with broken password has not been used for a few months. This seems to contradict the theory that certain accounts have been disabled based on some server-side anti-spam initiative.

My main browser on PC is Opera v9.62. Switching over to Firefox v16.0.2 or accessing the accounts from the BlackBerry (with native browser or Opera Mini) doesn't change anything.

At this point I'm giving up on all my "operamail.com" accounts and switching over to "myopera.com".

Just to be sure:

When I open an email with opera in which cases can I expect that my account will face the same problems like
mentioned above.

So, how can I prevent the spam probability for my email account. I dont think that the members here have
publicly shown their email adresses, right?

Thanks and best regards

mrblack8500: You are obviously sending spam. Don't waste my time pretending any different. There are plenty of users here requiring real help. Spammers like yourself posing as those users makes it more difficult for us to help those who truly require it.

Those who are experiencing operamail.com issues with regards to their account, are encouraged to contact support at operamail.com

coooperame: You are seeing a combination of a few things. First, real spammers are trying to convince us to unlock their accounts, which we obviously will not tolerate. You are also seeing some users who have had their accounts wrongfully locked, which we assess and unlock as appropriate. In most cases, we get it right.

Marianh:
Thanks for providing the contact info for Support. I will send email and provide all my operamail accounts. It might help Opera developers to improve spam detection algorithms.

Cooloperame :
You second question is a bit off topic but here is the answer anyway.

By default your email address at myopera is your_user_name@myopera.com. So the inbox is vulnerable to spam because your user name is shown in your posts. I don't know why Opera set it up this way. There might be some way around it, maybe if you enter a "real name" in account settings. I have never tried this, I just use a second account to post in Opera's public forums.

Just a reminder, this is how it works with "myopera.com" accounts and has probably been discussed elsewhere. This thread is about disabled account login. Some affected users have old "operamail.com" legacy accounts now hosted by fastmail.com.

I have just received email from Opera:

"We don't provide personal support at your service level:

https://www.fastmail.fm/pages/fastmail/docs/pricingtbl.html

Please upgrade your account to "Full" or higher service level for personal support."

It's a joke. First they shut off the accounts for no reason and then they want you to subscribe to a paid service so that you can help them to sort out the programming bugs in their anti-spam algorithms.

Dear Opera, I have been using your browser on my PC since the days that you had to pay for it $15/year, but I'm not going to pay for any web mail address. These days you get those free of charge.

this means that this is a technical problem. so, if problems occur then I simply have to contact you or other staff members. thanks for clearing up.

Marianh: Accounts can be closed due to inactivity ...

Thanks for clarification. It is actually a good idea, Hotmail used to close inactive accounts if you never logged in for 90 days. I don't think operamail had a similar rule.

In that case my only suggestion would be to change the error message from "Login disabled" to "Account not found" or something similar.

Hi mehmetbabul, your account was disabled due to our spam filter. However, I can see that you did not intentionally do so, so I have unlocked it.
If you reply to a spammer's email, the keywords used to detect it as spam are sent from your account, which in turn can get it locked, as the system believes you are sending spam.

Please be careful with who you reply to. I have locked the spammer's account, so they should not be contacting you again. If they do, report the message as spam, and do not reply.
Please do not email me directly unless requested to do so. Thanks!

Nancy ... try the My Opera: Feedback, Questions and Comments forum - I doubt if the webmail people can do anything about your blog or photo albums. Though in that sense, they look fine here.
