Stop Opera from auto-updating !!!

Hi,

I want to stay on v12.50, build 1491 but Opera keeps prompting me to install new update (1497) which crashes on Flash *and* which won't accept my custom keyboard shortcuts ! Moreover I'm starting Opera with the "-pd" switch to point to my custom profile folder so that I don't create useless folders on my system partition (under Local and Roaming)... So when the prompt comes, I have two option: 1- to accept the update which will lead to crashes, or 2- refuse but Opera will then automatically start with a newly created default profile instead of mine (indicated with -pd) !
I set the security option to "not check for new updates" but it still prompts me on every startup ! Can you please give me directions, it's really, really annoying !!! furious I'm *that* near to wipe Opera and switch to Firefox...

The update has already been downloaded, and on starting Opera will ask your permission to install it. Remove the downloaded files from your Temp folder, and it will no longer prompt on startup. See your Appdata\Local\Temp folder for a folder named after your current Opera installation folder, for example %tmp%\Cprogramfilesopera\

Preferences > Advanced > Security

At the bottom you should be able to disable auto-update.

A couple of minor errors:
The name of the upgrader folder is "CProgram FilesOpera" (note the space before "Files" part; Opera is the name of the installation folder and changes if you've installed in an alternative location)
Also in XP, the upgrader temp folder is within "Local Settings" directory not "Application Data" (AppData) directory.

Don't stop autoupdating Opera Next. Users can disable autoupdate feature. Don't add 1538 due to losing extension settings but add next build!

tried in Ubuntu 12.04; only works if you - additionally to change Opera's security setting - uncheck Opera's update-server line in Synaptic's repository-listing

also prefer the older version, due to 12.X's problem recognizing Flash player + with the timeline in mp4-videos on YouTube
