Still can't open a config.xml
Hoping that this widget would be easy like Safari. But I can't open the Hello World. I have tried everything as mentioned in the linux thread:http://my.opera.com/community/forums/topic.dml?id=146923
but no luck. I tried the zip file and I get the view of jibberish in the browser.
Does anybody have any advice.
It seems as though the only way to open it is through the "download process" but how to simulate that when the file is on your system?
Any help is appreciated, looking to show my clients an alternative to Safari etc.
Thanks.

I am working this for the silent majority who see the promise of Opera. Trying to get started with the Hello World files and I am running MacOSX. I've left posts on those other threads as well. HOWEVER:
I see that if I use the sample file link, http://my.opera.com/community/customize/widgets/info/?id=3675 and download the files there is a different behavior than if I download the widget into opera by simply clicking on the link.
1. The widget download I find in the UserLib-AppSupport-Opera folder as a zip
I file open that and I get the widget
If I unzip and open the config.xml I get the non-parsed xml
If I zip it back, same name, I get control chars
if I open the original zipfile (new name) I get the widget.
HMMM
2. The file download: goes to my cache for Opera but I move it to the DeskTop
Nothing works -
The .wdgt file is not valid
The config.xml gives the unparsed xml
If I zip the folder and open that I get jibberish.
So the secret must be somewhere in the zipping of the orignal file?
It may be obvious to you seasoned folks, but to me, there's something in the meta on the original zip, and maybe it has to do with the fact that is a served URL.
If anybody (that works or develops for opera) has a clue, clue us in ... how can we force the meta on this zip file; or where do I have to put this file? ...
and where do I create the .htaccess file? in ~/sites/widgetfolder/ or syslib/webserver/
I'll create a tutorial for dummies ... or newbies ... or neophytes if I can just get it to work.
