Feature Request: Hybrid Extensions
Hello,I am the developer of the Instant Currency Rates extension. Recently, a user asked for a new feature - a currency converter to do currency conversion among multiple currencies.
Now ideally, that feature would be better accessed through a button in the Opera toolbar. However, I soon realized that a Speed Dial extension cannot also add a button to the toolbar or inject and modify a website and vice-versa. I had to resort to, what I consider, an ugly hack - add the currency converter feature within 'Preferences'. I am sure you will agree that it doesn't give a good user experience.
Please remove this limitation and allow an extension to use all extension features without limiting them to a particular type.

Another user, of a different extension (Google Adsense Monitor) of mine requested a feature that needs this too (the particular user would like the data to be displayed in the toolbar too, along with the speed dial). I really don't want to create 2 extensions for the same purpose, just for a UI change.
[I am posting this not to promote my extensions here, but to give the Opera team an idea (and example) of real life use cases for "hybrid" extensions].

Sounds like a good idea, however I would advise to also post (or move) this to the Opera Extensions Development Discussions board as there may be more likeminded people who can express their support
