Problem on Opera Mini/Mobile with site submenu (android)

I have Opera Mini 7 and Mobile 12

1- go to the http://senna-4ever.com/

2- Try to access some of these menus, to open/showing the submenus: Downloads, Gallery, Videos

Sites with these submenus, which are shown when the mouse is on menu, doesn't work correctly. I can't access these kind of submenus. Another site I have this problem is http://www.myanimelist.net, where I have to put the mouse on "Profile" menu to check my PM's, but in mobile there is no way to work it. What do I do?

That's because the menus use onmouseover which is nonexistant in tablet or smartphones. They should detect mobile browser and use onclick.

I agree with that but it do work on any other major android browser (appart from stock android browser, which nobody should use).
This so simple W3C example : http://www.w3schools.com/dhtml/tryit.asp?filename=trydhtml_menu10
works on Chrome, Dolphin, Firefox (they probably use a trick to bypass the onmouseover), but not on Opera 12 =(
Too bad for the very first browser which was capable of giving a neat PC-like browsing experience since so much time!

In the site, onMouseOver function of JavaScript is used.
The solution for this issue is to immediately stop loading after clicking on one of those tabs.

I forgotten to say, even if it uses onmouseover, if it doesn't have a link in menu header, it should work too smile

only fails if has a link in header because tapping it causes to go to the link, instead of opening the menu.

In miren browser, ninesky browser, skyfire it works if you keep pressing on menu. The submenu is loaded but shows the browser options for "add to bookmark, share it..." is only use the "undo" mobile button and use the submenu normally smile

Still testing other browsers.

In my Nintendo DSi Browser if I trigger the function to select text and the selection cursor is left above the main link the menu will open and you're able to use it normally. It could be one solution Opera itself implemented in the past.

It'll be more interesting to see in the future how browser vendors will deal with drag and drop events vs page scrolling on touchscreens...

Interestingly, I can get a cursor on my tablet ... when I use the arrow keys on my bluetooth keyboard. (I was wondering if Mobile supported positional navigation like the desktop version does ... no, it doesn't.) Didn't try it with menus ...

It includes a mouse pointer cursor because that's how browsers can work on non-touchscreen devices.
Can you test it?

Let's see ... looks like you have to press Enter to get out of whatever mode it starts in (it initially displays a cursor with a + next to it), once you do that then hovering a menu works to display the menu. Additionally a blue box is displayed over whatever the target is (link or whatever) and either Enter or Space will activate the item. You have to click somewhere inside the page to get rid of this cursor (if you decide it is in the way) - or press Enter.

Unfortunately the vertical step when moving the cursor is fairly large ... okay, on some pages. It seems to change, not sure on what basis.

Note that the cursor is Opera's, it doesn't show outside the page (you can't use it to get to the menu, etc.) and indeed on the start page (aka Speed Dial) you only see a highlight and no cursor.

Definitely needs documentation somewhere ...

Ah, okay, the arrow with the + is to select an area to view. On one of those pages which is automatically zoomed out because it's too big for the screen, you'll see a rectangle around the arrow indicating what part of the page will be shown when you press Enter. The box isn't centered on the cursor as such, but if the cursor gets close to one of the edges the box will move that way. No clue how you'd select text with it (except in a text area of course).

Press and hold what? I mean, I know how to select on the touchscreen, the question was if the keyboard could do it.

Well, sort of. Pressing 1 gets me a prompt that says to move the (text) cursor, then press "Start" to start selection. But what's "Start"? I don't have a "Start" key on my keyboard.

Edit ... apparently Start is Enter.

Among the non-obvious things, there are shortcuts assigned to either # or * (apparently intended to work with a phone keypad). You can find them listed from the menu under Help > Shortcuts ... except that you can't get to the menu from the keyboard. The keyboard has buttons for the standard Android soft buttons (Back, Home, Menu and Search anyway, no sign of a window list button), but in Opera the Menu button does nothing. (The keyboard also has Ctrl, Alt and Fn keys, the Fn key accesses stuff printed in blue on the top row.)
