New hotmail (outlook) does not work

I can open the website, but clicking on emails does nothing.

Opera's crusade against microsoft continues smile
This might be the drop that causes the overflow, so I'm hoping there is ope still.

Not working here too. Really disappointed.

I wish Opera could do something about their compatibility. More important than hardware acceleration or any other features.

I've already sent a bug report to Microsoft, maybe they can fix this, but my hopes are that the bug is on opera side, they will fix it earlier then Microsoft will I guess.

I am currently switching from gmail to outlook, and I am impressed, but I don't want to switch from Opera to Firefox.

Sorry for my bad english

Gmail doesnt work correct, Outlook doesnt work at all. Can you imagine how much i like Opera browser still keep using it.
But no feedback from developers is the biggest disappointment to me.

I wish Opera could do something about their compatibility

Same issue here. I eagerly await either a fix on the browser side at Opera or the server side at Microsoft.

Yeah I also get the same problem,

Can i ask the obvious questions here

1) What version of Opera are you guys using, (I am using 12, which also doesn't work for my bank ), has anybody tried using an earlier version
2) What happens if you set your browser to identify as FF, or IE.
3) Does anyone know what the actual problem is eg Javascript or some obscure html command being differently by opera?

Reported as DSK-371080.

Outlook.com doesn't work with 12.01 and 12.50 either.

Same here, Opera 12.00, Build 1467.
If you switch to "Mask as Firefox" it works somehow, but looks totally ugly (looks more like an old school WAP page). All other client settings do not work.
Please fix this as soon as possible!

Opera is the best browser and I don't want to have to stop using it because of this.

I'm using the latest official build 12.00 (1467). Masking the browser does nothing.

Would it really be a problem on Microsoft's side? I only ask because it works in the other browsers. Well, I did not test Safari. If it is on their side I seriously doubt they will invest any real time or effort to make it work for Opera if it is a complex fix.

w3c validator does show 1000 errors but the problem is that it works on IE, FF and chrome so... like 98 % of browser market is covered.
End result is that opera's screwed.

Thanks for reporting this, everyone. We're on it and talking with Microsoft. It may be a bug on our side in which we interpret a spec too strictly; we're investigating it.

Yes please hurry and get this fixed. Ever since I switched to Opera I really don't like going back to Chrome.

I think it is positive to send feedback to MS about the validation errors, regardless of how strict Opera might be.

Here is a suggested feedback I hope more people can send to them at:

Hello,

Your new outlook.com email service does not work with my browser of choice: Opera ( www.Opera.com )
I think you need to at least ensure that your service is standards compliant.

See for yourself - your own results:
http://validator.w3.org/check?uri=www.outlook.com&charset=%28detect+automatically%29&doctype=Inline&group=0

Regards,

We've issued a patch which will be loaded when you update to 12.01.

We'd be glad to hear of any more problems.

Thanks for your bug reports, and your patience.

10.01 also fixed the problems for me to. It still takes a few seconds for outlook to load and become functional, just as was the case with otmail, but it works.

Thanks to bruce and everyone who reported the problem, this was a quick fix.

Update browser.js: Help > Check for updates.

Check your browser.js here, it should say

Current browser.js status: enabled.
Target version and time stamp of the active browser.js file is Opera Desktop 12.50 core 2.9.168, August 1, 2012. Active patches: 254 .

Paste this into your address/URL bar and press enter:
about:config#UserPrefs|OperaDirectory
Use it to locate your temporary data directory.
The browser.js file should be in there.

(Edit) also see here: http://www.opera.com/docs/browserjs/

dmitryvkrn browser.js is normally on github https://github.com/operasoftware/browserjs (but there seems to be a problem at the moment) so I guess you could download it from there. But I''m curious - why not update to 12.01 and get the new browser.js too? Then everything is in sync.

Ooops, spoke too soon. The messenger side is problematic. It worked earlier, then I went to my calendar and back to mail. Now it does not populate. If I go to the People section it populates, but there is a loading animation in the center of the screen, you know, those circling dots. Not sure what it is loading.

None of my messenger friends are online right now so for me it is hard to test

I wonder if the browserjs can add tool tips to the buttons? (can hover over the buttons and a tool tip will tell you what each button is)

Are you on Opera 12.01 or 11.64? the browserjs patch you have listed is for the 12.x series not 11.x
