Some downloaded files have changed extensions (Linux, all versions including the latest 1538)
Hello,This is a really old bug, it has been discussed before but nothing happened. For now i have Opera Next version 1538, but i encountered this bug here and there.
Basically when you want to download a file, Opera checks the encoding/type of that file and it replaces the extension with one that it thinks it should be.
Now its fine and dandy except that in some cases Opera fails to do this accurately and wants to give an extension that isnt right. This is particularly annoying if i want to open a file directly and i have no control over the naming.
Recently this is happening on a site that uses cpanel - i want to quickly go over some php files (php script files, text format) with geany (text editor), but if i click on them, Opera wants to rename the extension to .jpg and pass that to the application.
Extremely annoying and i have no control over this, the only resembling setting in opera:config is "Append Extension To Filename" which does nothing if ticked or unticked (i restarted Opera after changing it).
Anyone? Please make this feature "disableable" at least.
