Is there a way to set a keyboard shortcut to bring up the last window closed?
Is there a way to set a keyboard shortcut like ctrl shift n to bring up the last window closed as on firefox?Yes, I know there is a list of closed windows. And to get to it I have to mouse and click and I have blossoming RSI and I want to use the mouse as little as possible. (I spurn apple macs on this basis!)
I use firefox as my main browser because of addons like hacktheweb which is indispensable. I use chrome as my second browser, but I prefer opera these days, now that so many of the standard keyboard shortcuts have been adopted. But chrome has ctrl shift t which works - it does last closed window instead of tab in time sequence. In order to go over to opera I need some kind of simple keyboard shortcut which opens the last window closed.
Shortcuts can be modified as you like in Preferences, Advanced, Shortcuts, keyboard setup.
The command you are looking for is "Reopen Window."

I found
advanced > shortcuts > keyboard setup > Browser Window > Reopen Page
but that is set to t ctrl shift, and it just reopens the last tab closed in that window as one would expect.
I looked all through
advanced > shortcuts > keyboard setup > Browser Window
advanced > shortcuts > keyboard setup > Application
advanced > shortcuts > keyboard setup > Document Window
and
advanced > shortcuts > keyboard setup > advanced
but I can't find Reopen Window.
I'm using 12.01 under linux; could this be a glitch?
I also found this googling about:
Ctrl+Z is the standard command to undo the last action. That is what it does in Opera.
This sounds idea but this does not work.
but this does not work either.
Bizarrely I opened this search
http://www.opera.com/helpsearch/index.dml?words=reopen%20window
and typed in reopen window and got the response:
No results matches on search for “reopen window”. Please try refining your keywords. Did you mean: reopen window
I click on the suggested phrase, but being identically the same as my original search query I get the same search result.
!!??
Reopen window seems to be in an information black hole. We think it must be there but it does not show up!
Further to that I found this post:
Thanks for the pointer -- AllActionsListPlus does list "reopen window" (the others don't), but it doesn't provide any more documentation. So I still have no idea why it's not working.
But when I searched AllActionsListPlus I found no Reopen Window command, but then that was for opera 9 and I can't find one for opera 12 by googling.
Still hugely confused because in that list it states
Reopen page — The webpage window which has just been shut, will immediately reopen.
So in that version reopen page meant reopen window, but now it seems it means reopen tab.
Lost!

Edit: Unfortunately, the command doesn't work — maybe the syntax is wrong. "reopen window, 1" also doesn't work.
Reopen page = reopen tab. The tab bar is actually called the pagebar. The shortcut for New Page used to be Ctrl N, but was later changed to Ctrl T to suit ex-Firefox users. Type "page" in the actions field, and you will find a whole lot of commands for opening pages. Type "tab" and you will find only a few for tab groups.

I type in page and everything seems to refer to tabs, as I would expect from what you say.
I type in window and I get nothing that refers to reopening a window.
I tried following your example and give n ctrl shift to Reopen window but it is still just private browsing.
Is reopen window broken then?

If n ctrl shift is still opening a private browsing tab, then I guess you didn't select your edited keyboard setup.
The command may be broken, it may be deprecated, or we may be using the wrong syntax.
Reopen window is listed in the AllActions command list for Opera 10.5, which is not too far out-of-date.
Try creating a command instead for:
w ctrl shift = Show popup menu, "internal closed window list"
That does work (as long as you have closed at least one window).

I have gone through every last option in the settings and there really is no reopen window. I have gone through every variation. Which subsection is it listed in on your system? And on which keyboard setup do you find it? Opera -- standard -- 9.2 compatible -- Standard for UNIX.
If I can find it and it doesn't work I'll raise as a bug. If it isn't there then it is a request to restore a feature.

There is no shortcut assigned to it — it just appears in the list of available commands in the Action drop down and in the AllCommands list.

no joy with reopen window
Have you actually closed any Windows? The shortcut works for me with a delay of 1, but not without it.

I just forgot and closed a window without meaning to. Then I had to go picking through all my list of recent windows to find what tabs I had open from various times today. I stack them up in the order I'm going to go through them later. It's a real bummer when you are used to having a feature!! Might have to go back to firefox and chrome for the time being. But I really do like opera these days so I'd very much like to get this sorted.

If you created your accidentally closed window the same way, then that's the cause of your problems since private windows leave no traces of your browsing history when closed. They don't end up in the trash can and can't be retrieved with reopen window. Use Ctrl n when creating new windows or just be careful when closing a private window or tab.Ctrl shift n gets me a new blank window.
[Edit]
I just reread your first and last post. You said that you can see the closed windows in the Closed Tabs list and that you just need a shortcut to retrieve them easier. If this is the case then private windows can't be the problem and Delay,1 & Reopen window should work. I also fail to understand the problem you describe in your last post: "I had to go picking through all my list of recent windows". The last closed window is the last in the list. Shouldn't take too long to pick it up.
Hmm, it doesn't work under window 7 either. I just set it up on the windows box, and in the pull down menu of closed windows the keyboard shortcut is clearly stated ctrl+shift+n but it does not actually work!!? I'm calling that a significant bug.
With regard to "I had to go picking through all my list of recent windows" you have helped me greatly here. I forgot about the closed windows list completely and had to go picking through the browsing history to reconstruct it. If it happens again I shall recall there is a much easier option! Thanks for saving me from my own idiocy!

For me it is. 12.xx freezes too often for my liking.
Regardless of Opera version I experience shortcuts that should work, but don't . But this is because the key combination is "taken" by another application or the OS. Such a key combination wouldn't work with any Opera command. What is strange is that in your case a given key combination executes new page , but not reopen window. Could be some kind of Linux conflict. If you are still interested to solve the case I recommend to post in the Linux forum. Users there are more experienced with Linux quirks and may be able to confirm your problem.
It's not your idiocy, it's the uncomprehensible idiocy of Opera ASA to replace the trashcan icon they used for ages and which symbolizes a *recycle* bin with a tiny triangle that sympolizes nothing and is easy to overlook.I forgot about the closed windows list completely .... Thanks for saving me from my own idiocy!
