why do you want to switch the order of the checkboxes and the text? It's this way throughout the UI and also the better way to place these (if you need I can give you a bunch of reasons).

+1 for the rest. For suggestions I think there would need to be a standard to implement this satisfactory (i.e. autofilling the field when generating the search through right-click -> create search). for instance <input> or <form> element could have some param with the suggestions-url/method/scheme/whatever.
