Security Sending Mail With Opera

When I go to Opera Mail I see it's a secure site, but when I go to send a message to someone by clicking on their envelope the page goes from secure to unsecured, and I am wondering why as I thought that when the message gets sent it would be sent unencrypted which of course wouldn't be secure.

I understand the login to be secure but not the actual sending of the mail itself, could someone from Opera or a member of the community please clarify this?

Are you talking about mail.opera.com? or operamail.com/fastmail.fm? This forum is for Opera's built-in IMAP/POP client.

Opera's built-in mail client is called "Opera Mail" (also known as "M2"). "My Opera Mail" (capital "M" in "My" so it doesn't sound like you're talking about your account in Opera's built-in mail client) refers to mail.opera.com (for web access) and your at myopera.com account via IMAP or POP. "Opera Mail" can also refer to "Opera webmail" that's provided by operamail.com that's provided by fastmail.fm.

Opera's very silly and very ambiguous with the naming of its services. That's why it's very important to refer to Opera's built-in mail cilent as "M2" and the others by web address (URL).

It sounds like you might be talking about mail.opera.com (that my.opera.com here provides for ya) then. The forum for that is at <http://my.opera.com/community/forums/forum.dml?id=76>.

Yep, That forum is where you asks questions about it (unless you're talking about connecting to that account with M2 instead of via the web page).

Hi there vinyldeck, which browser are you using?
If you're using Opera, we are aware of an issue causing some sites (including My Opera Mail) to sometimes display an insecure connection, when the connection is in fact secure. You can expect this to be fixed in a future update to the Opera browser.

Sounds like it is the issue I mentioned above then. Keep an eye out for a future browser update which will fix this. In the mean time, there's nothing to be too concerned about, since it is an issue with how the browser displays the connection as secure, and is not an issue with the security of the connection itself.

It's not fixed in any public release just yet. If you want to keep an eye out to see when the issue fixed before the next public release, you can use Opera Next, available at http://www.opera.com/browser/next/ (it's not fixed there yet either, but most things usually appear in a Next update before appearing in a general public update).

Yeah, but my question is will an update be incorporated just for Opera 12.02 ?
