Agressive Tab Locking

How about being able to lock a tab in a way no address typing, back, foward, etc functions are permitted?, excepting for Reload of course. I sometimes forget to open a new tab when I start browsing and I end up losing the page I had locked, which obviously won't close, but that alone doesn't do much considering you can replace it by mistake bigsmile

Totally agree.
Would be more useful to also lock the adress, not only the tab.

I already covered that with "no address typing" wink

+1. also links should automatically open in a new page if it's locked.
and imho the address bar shouldn't be locked, but typed-in addresses should also be opened in a new page.

I was aware of that.
Just wanted to repeat it for giving it the urgency to be done by dinner time wink

It's been a while, but not a single word from someone related to the Opera development team as of almost a year later. Anyone? smile

It would be useful fe. when playing flash games. Sometimes I accidentially click on a link when playing a game and it results in losing my progress. Making locked tab lock it's address would be much more useful.

+100. Very useful. I already thought of it.
It would be another great opera exclusive feature if developers will hear us

Another bump--sorry~

But anyway, this is definitely a great idea! I always accidentally mess up a mouse gesture and this feature would definitely make it easier to stay on the right website. +1

How about placing page in tab into Bookmarks or Personal bar?
Also this will save memory.

XaHyMaH: yeah, but you eg. can't listen to audio streams in that tab ... or simply have it open for quick referencing stuff without having to open the page again (eg. wikipedia article for work -> wikipedia-browsing for expressions I don't understand without accidentally closing/losing the original page)

And about:

with the option, when address is typed in the locked tab - it'll open in a new tab instead.

+1 -1 = +2 I am positive on this.

I need even more aggressive locking when page reload is disabled. It is useful when you type long text and want to accidentally reload page. Or if you use large Ajax application like Google docs or something else. Some changes might be lost though Google docs periodically saves it. And many more examples when you don't want to accidentally reload page.
Maybe just ask user if he is sure to reload page. Plus warn user that there are rich Ajax applications that might lose some data when he closes Opera.

+1 it has merit, it would be helpful when typing up things on the internet or completing a form, a couple of times I have lost my progress because I accidentally clicked on something that took me to another page (opera's back/forward cache seems to retain most input information, though sometimes it is lost with unconventional forms).

Infact in chrome, when you type another address in the current pinned tab, the address will open in a new (unpinned) tab.

Well, I use Opera because it's different from Chrome...
Stop with this request, just type on the address bar and use Shift + enter to open the address in a new tab or Ctrl + Shift + enter to open the address in a new tab in the background! (Ctrl +) Shift + enter in the address bar is Opera exclusivity, make use of it. smile
