Youtube.com ready?

Can anyone confirm (would love to hear the staff on this one) that the Opera browser for the Wii will support Youtube? This would really add kick ass value to the browser in question.

I'm sure it'll work with youtube, as its able to show embedded flash videos, just like youtube.

I was able to get YouTube to load when the browser first launched late last night, and much of this morning... but I've had problems all afternoon with it... it says it needs an updated version of Flash, and of course there's apparently no way to update flash with the Wii OS unless Opera/Wii release an update themselves.

PureVolume.com works great, though. Except when I try to scroll down on the page when a song is playing, it goes back to the Opera main menu.

The Opera browser on Wii does support playback of movies on Youtube. Youtube seems to have broken something tonight, however, blocking Wii users. We will investigate and contact them about it.

I've had the same issues with YouTube. It worked great last night, early this morning. This afternoon though it's buggy. The first video on the main page, right bar, runs from the launch page fine. All other videos ask for an update to Flash. I'm sure it's an issue Opera will iron out with the final version.

Edit. Good news. Glad to hear the devs are on top of the issue. Just a sidenote...I had troubles viewing YouTube on Opera 9.01 today as well. The update to 9.1 fixed it.

While I have thus far been unable to use www.youtube.com itself, sofatube, which apparently just grabs from youtube, seems to work fine. Formatting is nice for the wii as well.

YouTube was working to some extent when I was using it early this morning -- although videos would only play upto about 20~25 seconds.

now I am have major problems with YouTube, as it is not working at all, and others are reporting the same or similar problems.

read the GAF thread from this point forward
http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=134869&page=13

the main problem is now YouTube is showing "turn on Javascript or upgrade Flash" or a message along those lines.

for some people, YouTube is working off & on. but for me, not at all.

YouTube.com is working fine here.

I have created a quick portal page to get to all of the Wii Compatible websites without having to type in long urls. All you need to do is type in this URL once then bookmark it:

Hi, I work at YouTube as a product manager. I also bought a Wii two weeks ago!

Today I ran the browser and it worked fine for YT videos for about 10 minutes. Then the links stopped clicking through or sporadically worked. After that the pages came up with the error about javascript or an old version of flash. I have asked the team here about the error since I have seen it here or there on various browsers. Hopefully someone knows what causes it and it will be a quick browser or server fix. It seems to be a detection problem when we do the check on whether the flash player is available. Why this would change after some minutes of running is beyond me.

More news as I have it!

thank you for the info powersYT, much appreciated. hopefully Opera and/or
YouTube can get things sorted out.

I was playing some Google Videos, they seemed to work ok. better than even early this morning when I could only play a few seconds of them. if a Google Video stops cashing. move the bar a little and it should pick up and start cashing & playing.

For those having problems with youtube. one of my visitors thinks he may have found the issue:

"I can't verify it for sure, but I think the sporadic Youtube problem happens when Youtube's banner ad is in flash.... so far I haven't seen the Wii display more than one flash applet at a time."

Not sure this is correct, but just passing the info along in hopes someone can fix it.

Youtube is working great for me right now!

I used it this morning with no problems, came home from work about an hour ago and once again, everything's working great. This evening I've already watched about 10 different videos of all different lengths. No issues at all with any of them once they loaded. *thumbs up*

The Wii Media Center X thing doesn't work.
I hope there is some support for this stuff eventually because I'd love to listen to music and view photos from my computer.

as of the last few hours, Youtube has been working, and working quite well. videos will play, and usually the entire video. sure there are stops and starts, just like on a PC with any browser. I was able to watch fairly long vids too, for the first time. exellent.

I, like many, have noticed this problem. Furthermore, I have actually had the console freeze while watching a video on Youtube.com. I've also seen the whole channel slow down to a near halt.

The main fix I've seen others mention that they restarted the console and both would clear themselves up. Personally I have not tried this. However, I have tried and found out that if you delete the channel and then redownload it that these problems disappear.

Is there a possibilty that theres a problem with the cache its keeping; that it gets so full that it begins causing problems? I'm not sure how this browser does things, just thought of it as a possibility. I do love the broswer though. Cannot wait until release.
