Opera Cannot Copy Full Pages of Text and Graphics

I cannot highlight an entire page in opera to save to another program. In Explorer and Firefox, I can click on 'Select All' and all the text, hyperlinks, and images are highlighted and I can save the entire page to Evernote or add it to an email. In Opera v9.10, Build 8679, I can only highlight the text portion. I have to right-click on images, and save them seperatly. Is there a setting in Options that I need to turn on? If so, I can't find it. Strange that this is not a problem with FireFox.

I read a good amount of this thread and started to doze off ...but, I have lived with this deficiency in hopes they (dem Nordic people) might fix it. Nah, didn't derive any joy from that!! So far, I use screenshots & save-as-mht to overcome this deficit...

FYI, autocopy is not js, the latest version at least is a xpi that contains a js installer and a jar file (!). so no idea how to make it work within the userJs folder.

lol Autocopy it is extension for Firefox. Firefox extensions not compatible with Opera smile .
For Opera present two UserJS (auto-copy.js & autocopy.js).

hmm, ok. So what is the reason then? It must be a powerful and important one, I'm sure.

NOTE: evernote manages to grab rich text from opera.
Example:
select area
copy
go to evernote
paste

it shows rich text !!!

I use oneNote, but this feature may make me swtich (either that, or I move away from Opera, since I find myself copying chunks from the web more and more often)

Thnaks God that Opera cannot do that! That's why is my preferred browser to copy press articles to post in my blog. Unfortunately, the constant error messages that I cannot disable are forcig me to forget about Opera.

Where do I find this Wishlist? I searched the last 6 months and the only one I found was for Opera Mini...

I really like to copy single posts out of forums, but the meaning is often difficult to interprete without smileys. Just started to use Firefox for this purpose, because during traveling I used other computers and discovered that it does the job just fine.

There is no single wish in that list that I could find to add my support.
I just want a simple question answered. Will this feature be in Kestrel?
If it will, I'll just wait. Hack didn't work for me. It will save me time looking for alternatives.
But this feature is important enough for me to switch browsers...
So if it won't be in Kestrel, I'll consirer going back to FF.

Thanks

Lex1, thank you so much! I installed your workaround, and it works perfectly (for everything I've tested thus far).

Like many others, I am using Microsoft OneNote 2007 to store web clippings copied through the Opera browser. If not for your tool, I would have had to switch back to Firefox, which is running really slowly for me.

Thanks again!

I found your instructions a little bit unclear (perhaps due to language differences; perhaps also due to the fact that I'm a tech novice). Here's all I did (in addition to reading your instructions for background information). I have Opera version 9.50.

1) Downloaded your software (which is in a .zip format).
2) Created the directory "c:\UserJS".
3) Showed Opera the path for that directory under Java Options (Tools -> Preferences -> Advanced -> Content -> JavaScript Options).
4) Unzipped your software into the folder which was automatically recommended (for me, that was "Opera950").
5) Closed Opera. Started it back up, right-clicked a portion of a web page I had selected, and chose, "copy text with formatting". It's the last item in the list when you right-click.

For some reason, it didn't work the first time I tried it, but since then it has worked perfectly.

Spasiba! (I trust that this means "thank you" in Russian.) Feel free to copy these instructions if you find them useful.

This is a hack. Sorry to be blunt.

If Kestrel doesn't implement this, it's a sign of how separated are users' and Opera's goals have become. I understand that Opera does this on behalf of security, but[B] the price to be paid is just too high and it makes opera useless

[/B]
when taking clips from the web, and mind you, that's a pretty common use for many people, myself included.

I think this strongly reflects the sentiment of everyone here who are so frustrated by this issue which makes the browser a handicap browser which fails to deliver the envisioned excellence in Web Experience that I always believed Opera prided itself in the development of its web browsers. I may just go back later and just upgrade to Firefox 3.5.2 this mumbo jumbo about hacking and playing around with scripts is just too much manure for me to follow and do. Its too complicated when I can just run Evernote in another browser and be happy and forget Opera 10. Period.

I made a request for such feature on a panel allowing to copy web slices and having 3 buttons to convert azap from rtf/html/bbcode.

This is the feature I been waiting for on any browser.

I currently view source html/grab interesting stuff/and convert with http://www.seabreezecomputers.com/html2bbcode/

but it takes lots of time sad

more features would be: transpose pictures to image hostings azap, grab swf too

I hope opera is the one to come up with this. Cos has the guy above says. MANY PEOPLE really do/want this feature. Cos web is really seeing and sharing. If developers just cant get this and prefer to play with geeky stuff instead THEN lucky the dev browser that really catches peoples need at the moment.

This tools were made recently cos apps devs are finnaly getting it:
