[UserJs] Code/Formatting Tools in Quick-Reply

A little userjs that adds formatting tools (b,i,u,list, url, sub, font, color etc...) in quickreply. See <> screenshots.

Script also supports keyboard shortcuts. Press [Ctrl] key dont hold it down then press the shortcut key.
Example: to activate Bold(B), press Ctrl then press B

There is also a Reselect text feature. If you dont like that, open the script and set AutoReSelect to 0.

Download: Code Tools in Quick Reply yes

note: the smilies button isn't working yet ... sad

cheers

Tamil: two fixes I mentioned previously. Would you add them please?

Change this line:
opera.AddCodeTools((codTT=document.forms.addcomment).comment,codTT)
to this:
opera.AddCodeTools((codTT=document.forms.addcomment || false).comment,codTT)

and change this text:
'EMAIL-mailto:'
to
EMAIL
(There are purposely no quotes here.)

Thanks Tamil. Nice update.

you have to do a specificscript for the other forum. Ask the peoplefrom there for help.
This forum, this script and Opera are completly unrelated to the forum you're referencing.

Hy there! Thanks for creating this excelent script, could i make a sugestion? Would it be possible to make this script also working on creating posts on Opera Blog? Those shortcuts to Bold, Italic, etc, would help a lot. Does it already has shortcuts for posting imagens and urls? that would be awesome!

Thank you, please do continue with the execelent job!up

Here is a separate script that just adds the shortcuts to New/Edit post in blogs and New/Post reply in forums:
Formatting Shortcuts
You can use this script together with the quick-reply_formatting-tools scripts. smile

Yes. m for image and h (http) for url. You can change them by editing the script if you want.

How to add your Smilies Collection to the latest AyushJ's UserJS update release more easily?
Can you post your Smilies Collection Folder instead of your own UserJS ?
Can AyushJ add a Button to his UserJS to select outside Smilies Folder, or point to such folder in his code? Can all his smilies be also kept in that outside folder, i.e. in Opera Profile's UserJS Smilies folder - to offer a universal smilies adding method for everyone without touching the UserJS Code?

Is it possible to upgrade this script by adding Insert Picture (directly into quick Reply Text Area) and Upload File Buttons?
If its prohibited to directly insert pictures (why it is?) into Forum Replies, could this script make a Screenshot Thumb (call it a new Smiley) when pointed to the Picture file, and place that Smiley in the post?

Or at least place a picture Smiley here, preliminary saved by the poster on his HD? That would help greatly in posting new buttons and linking to picture files uploaded elsewhere. Also, can this script be improved to insert into a post a selected Button Thumb from the poster's Opera current Skin.zip file?

If its not allowed for UserJS to access local files, can this script (after clicking Insert Thumb Button) copy into RAM a file, currently being uploaded to Opera site via regular Post Reply, make a quick Thumb of it and insert it as a Smiley in the post? Why not? Ideally, the inserted Smiley should be allowed to be linked to a file or webpage, and have a Title showing in Tooltip.

Alternatively, can the forum link Format be modified to add a forum Thumb to the link? Or, can a dropdown Button be added to Quick Reply with Opera Standard Skin's Button Images represented as Smileys? Like Add Button Smiley Quick Reply function? In this case a Button Smiley will be added next to a Custom Button link.

It doesn't work since changes on my opera forums few weeks ago. Clicking any icon in quick reply inserts square brackets only (opening and closing brackets, without the tag), nothing more (tried bold, link, image, emoticons etc. buttons).

Script version 1.2.7
Opera 9.64, Vista
Polish language (may it make any difference?)

Here's a copy of Ayush's script I use. It is updated to work for what I use (all the default stuff). I can't guarantee animated smilies or any extras work.

Enjoy

Here's a working copy: update

Also I added a new option:
SelectCollapse = 1, //-- collapse selection around previous selected text (1) or expand around text + bbcode (0)

By default, the script will work as it did previously. When you click a button, it will reselect the text that was already selected. However if you change this value to 0, it will select the previous text AND the new bbcode added.

It is only lightly tested so let me know how/if it is broken.

  • When you click somewhere within an already written comment and try to insert smiley they get inserted at the end of the comment.
  • When something is selected and try to insert smiley it adds [SMADD ][/SMADD] tag.
