More clever CTRL shortcuts to Speed Dial (as seen on TV!)
Hi, I think the speedial should show the numbers in the same order than the numeric keypad on the keyboard :instead of :7 8 9
4 5 6
1 2 3
1 2 3
4 5 6
7 8 9
And CTRL+0 should call the Speed Dial.
Wow! That would be ULTIMATE!
EDIT: If speedial was a URL like opera:speeddial it would ease many things also…

If you have the speed-dial page in view, you don't look for the numbers instead you look at the thumbnails.
If you don't have the speed-dial page open, it's best to have it "synced" with your numpad

I am now using the latest Opera 9.27. I also had a quick look at Opera 9.50 beta 1 and Opera 9.50 beta 2 changelogs.
None of these evolved on any of the three points (see first post).
That's sorry … Would there be a better place to ask for it maybe ?

No. The wish-list is the right place. The developers do read this forum.

You can already do this by customising your keyboard setup in Preferences:
0 ctrl = New Page & Switch to next page

hasn't been implemented because this feature is called speeddial, not num-pad shortcut. it originated from the speed dials on cellphones and is supposed to bring that experience to the desktop. With Opera Link, it allows a mobile user to use their mobile and desktop seamlessly. While it may appear to make the speeddial for Opera be arranged like the numpad, it would be neglecting the origin of speeddial and integration of Opera Mini and Opera for desktops. You just gotta look at the big picture. For this reason, I doubt Opera will implement this switching feature. I'd rather have them working on greater and better ideas to port from the mobile or coming up with new ideas.
If you really want, you can remap what ctrl+1 does to be ctrl+7 instead, etc.

May be I am not smart enough but I really don't understand the advantage of just changing the number layout. If you have speed dial page open, you can simply click or press from keyboard. You know where is what. Even if you don't have speed dial open, then you might have it memoried. Just press the keyboard shortcut. But how specifically having it in keyboard order helps ? I am not opposed to it if it helps but I need more explanantion may be!
I support the idea of speeddial being a url page and that has many advantages like setting it as homepage(not start page only).

I don't use Opera Mini, so I don't know -- is it somehow possible to control your desktop browser's speed dial using the keypad on your phone? Or is the argument just "9's being in the bottom-right in Mini makes sense since that corresponds to the phone's interface, and the feature was originally on a phone, so it has to be that way on the desktop, even though the interface (keyboard) is different"?
My argument is that it's a simple usability problem -- there's grid of 9 numbers on the screen, and a grid of 9 numbers on your keyboard. It makes sense that they should correspond to each other. On phones, it should default to 1 in the top-left, and on desktops, 1 in the bottom-left. I still occasionally hit the wrong key after all this time of using the thing.
Edit:
Further reasoning: Speed Dial offers a visual grid of thumbnailed web pages. Imagine if they were not labeled with numbers, and it were just a 3-by-3 grid controlled by the keypad -- you would naturally assume that it would be in the same order as the keypad. The fact that the labels are absolutely required to avoid confusion is evidence that the arrangement is counter-intuitive.
+1 to opera:speeddial as well

Anyway, it may be just personal choice. If opera executes it , I would be surprised considering a lot of things it has to do beyond this inconvenience of presing the right number.
Good luck with the wish.
