Please report Private Message spammers in this thread.

Before reporting PM spam, read this carefully:

• This thread is only to be used to report private message spam (not spam in blogs, forums, etc.)
• Only report the spammer's username (preferably with a link to the spammer's about page - my.opera.com/USERNAME/about/), and we will look into it
• Make sure that the user hasn't already been reported by someone else before posting. It is only necessary to report spam from a user once
• Do not use this thread to post comments that are not actual spam reports

I tried twice last night to report a spam message I received, using the "Report" section, but I don't think either message got through so I'm trying "Reply" instead. The spam was from someone using the name "Stevenstone01" and in the message he called himself a doctor (if he's a doctor I'm the Empress Josephine). He also claimed to be from some financial company, and was asking me to falsely claim to be the next- of-kin of one his dead clients so that he could give me thousands of dollars! Needless to say I blocked him from my page and I trust you will block him from this site. Thankyou guys.

Sometimes the system doesn't work as expected, it could have been an accident on his part. I'll send him a warning for now.

I see he's posted in the Indonesian forum, if we really wanted to know I guess we'd need someone there to translate - but looks clear enough to me.

Somehow Peter Umeh doesn't look like a spammer, barring that he lists his occupation as "dealing on shirts" he seems like a regular person. So I'll merely give him a warning this time - I told him you weren't interested in being his friend, and pointed out that commercial content isn't allowed here. If we get any reports on him trying to sell stuff in the future he will be gone.

Anetababy on the other hand is an obvious scammer and is gone.

May be "doubtful", but we don't ban people simply for Friend requests. Unless they get carried away with too many requests or there's something objectionable in their profile.

Did you try blocking him? Just go to his About page, you'll see a button there - in English it would be labeled "Block". Click that, and he can't send messages to you.

I technically wouldn't call it spam (maybe?) but user: http://my.opera.com/greatcusco/blog/ PM'd me with the subject line, "you're a asshole" with a body of, "and sick my dick".

Doesn't seem to fit with his profile - I suspect either he wanted his account shut down, or someone hacked it. Well, either way ...

Are you saying he sent you a PM spam, or just that you can't read his About page? In the desktop version of Opera switching to User mode will disable the theme. It'll also make the menus at the top look terrible, but you'll be able to read the text.
