I am being spammed a lot by hqmusicvideo who added me as a so-called "friend" yesterday, it seems to be a blog which is just purloined music videos. Today I have received 28 identical messages from them about some kind of poll.

The owner of the virusdoorkut account is using it to host a malicious javascript that spams the srapbook of people in the social site Orkut. "virusdoorkut" means "orkut's virus" in Portuguese, it's not really a virus, just a malicious javascript that is embedded in every scrap, when the user opens his scrapbook the script is executed and a christmas message is automatically spammed to all your contacts.

The script in question is hosted at his account's file archive:
http://files.myopera.com/virusdoorkut/files/virus.js
It has been packed (and therefore obfuscated) so it's a little hard to know how it works.

The part that is embedded in the scraps is readable, this is the part that loads the script hosted here at MyOpera:

Orkut's staff have already taken care of the problem and deleted all of the spammed scraps, but the script is still hosted here at MyOpera, would be wise to terminate his account.

I suggest that ten postings of links to rapidshare (which is actually a pay site, though they do have some freebees) within a couple of hours qualifies as spam.

Can someone please check into the status of http://my.opera.com/thestatpharmacist/blog please? I can assure you that spam was not knowingly sent from this site by the user. Is it possible for a visitor to hack a site and send spam from it?

Is it possible to get an explanation for the banning of my.opera.com/thestatpharmacist/blog ??? Spam was NOT KNOWINGLY sent from this site and I find it very disturbing that accounts can be closed without ceremony like this. What can users do to ensure that their sites are not unexpectedly shut down? If the Links section was a problem then I will no longer post any links of any kind.

It seems that the account has been banned during an anti-spam sweep of the site. I cannot see anything spammy on closer inspection, so the account has been restored. Apologies for the inconvenience. At least we got rid of hundreds of real spam blogs too.

It's in hungarian, but it's basically an Avon agent posting about new products (including prices). Has catalogs even. And annoying background music and an animated GIF for a background, but those are not against the ToS, sadly...

I don't understand what "unauthorized advertisment" means here. If it's anything like "unauthorized messaging", it could mean that the ToS forbid unsolicited comments that advertize. Or you could be right, and MyOpera is only available for personal, non-business use.

I didn't read the terms in a long while, but I keep seeing on the front page "There are millions of ways to blog, and we like them all", taken to mean "you can share your interests". Or?

Well, there's a difference between discussing what you do and actually trying to advertise. I mean, putting your whole catalog in your blog wouid seem to violate the intent of the ToS, pretty clearly.

If you're intending to make money off of My Opera (and you're not some sort of partner where you're also beneftting Opera), then you're violating the ToS. Why should they be providing hosting services to you for free?

I'd say that she is violating the ToS, but on the other hand if you know her I'd say you should probably see if you can get her to clean it up instead of me banning her. (I presume that her English might not be good enough for me to explain, though you'd know better than I ...)

Do you mean he's a comment spammer? I don't see any spam in his blog - post a link to an example. (The number next to the username is a permalink to a comment, just right-click on it and Copy link address, then post it here.)

We are aware of the group, but just because it is named "The Spammers" doesn't mean they've done anything here (but we are watching them).

I'm not sure this is correct forum, but I want to report that a spammer is sending emails that include the following links:

The 5 messages all arrived this morning from a known spammer (usually Canadian Pharmacy spam). Spammer has used "Googlepages" before, but this is first time I've seen "My Opera" to host the Spamvertised URLs. I not sure that this is "Blog Spam" or what.

Have I alerted the correct people by posting here?
