Opera Mini 4.1 final
First of all we would, again, like to thank all of you who helped us beta testing Opera Mini 4.1. You provided us with a lot of good feedback, and we are now ready to give you the full 4.1 version! There are no big differences from the beta, but there are a lot of things that have happened behind the surface:
- We have fixed a lot of bugs
- Minor changes to saving pages
- Several adjustments to auto-complete address input and upload/download
- BlackBerry devices with old firmware now get Opera Mini 4.1 without JSR-75.
We all hope you enjoy the final version of Opera Mini 4.1!
Regards,
The Opera Mini team

The first option (link) on mobile download page should be for current (latest) release: 'Download Opera Mini'
There's propably still a link for Opera Mini 3 as well if you scroll down the page. I'm just too busy to test OM4.1, so no time to check. Link for OM3 is there because number of people asked it after OM4.0 was released.

Edit: This improved 'Saved Pages' is absolutely my favorite feature in OM4.1. Now I can save another set of shortcuts. I only wish it could be before history section on start page. I have saved a several personal link lists into 'Saved Pages', which are now easy and quick to use. Almost like having a personal home page

EDIT: Ok, it works now. Good. Yes, some phones will report "4"."1" as "4.01".

I think the google search was there already on beta. And you have to use middle soft key (right&down) to select the search. Just 'Go to' will try to find an URL. But editing the saved pages is definately new and very welcome feature.

If in the next update Moto users would get access to the signed version with file download/upload, that would be tremendous! I understood from earlier discussions in this forum that this would involve a lengthy process at OM developer's side, so I am patient...
Thanks again - great update!

@ ManneS,
maybe you should have another chat with your colleague. From his post, I conclude that Opera has chosen to install certain certificates and certain others not for reasons I fully respect. However, this also means that there is no technical limitation set by the phone. Please don't misunderstand me: I am not crying "give it to us underprivileged Moto users ASAP", I am just saying it would be cool if we were able to use those new features too.

Could you specify which language/country version of Opera Mini you downloaded and which predefined searches fail?

What I meant was that we have decided to go with these certificates, as they're most widely used, and if the phone can't handle it, it's not our fault. As my colleague also said, JavaVerified is not a good option for Opera Mini.

Well, I don't think so... I mean, the browser is recognized by the site as MOBILE, but isn't it also the browser's setting which ALLOWS that?
They fuck..d that in Hotmail this way, but it's a perfect example:
Hotmail recognizes browsers as mobile OR not, and if it's mobile - redirects to the mobile (sukcs!) mail.
AND: Opera Mobile 8.65 is recognized as MOBILE browser,
Opera Mini 4.1 is seen as a NORMAL browser..
So?
P.S. Is that possible to make a FINE icon of Opera Mini 4.1? (Phone: SonyEr P990).

Yes, it's by design. Our official (final) releases have the new icon, without the shadow.

The same icon used to look very good on my old SE M600i, but then after a firmware updated all J2ME icons looked like scaled down crap, large and pixelated even though they where high resolution icons. Since the P990i and M600i is basicly the same hardware platform my guess is that that might be your issue, if you downloaded Opera Mini directly to your phone that is.

And on the latest firmware on P990 the latest Omini 4.1 icon (installed freshly, I uninstalled the previous beta) looks "like scaled down crap, large and pixelated". Of course, downloaded directly from opera mini site...So bad I can't put it in main menu, it looks terrible!!!!!

When I select letters for SMALL, it does not support polish letters!
In medium, large it's ok... Too bad 'cos small letters are perfect, it's so much more txt on the screen...
See for example on http://wiadomosci.gazeta.pl/wiadomosci/0,0.html
P.S. FINALLY it does not ask me for permission on each startup. Seems fast, too.
Overally, forward!
