Images in transfers!? AGAIN?!

I have't seen this reported anywhere so I have to ask... Is anyone else having saved images appearing in transfers, just like in buggy Opera 9.00?!

Hey, it says here that this is a bug and that it is resolved (2 years ago). So my indignated statement of a *bug* being ressurected holds true. It's no feature, but an evil, malicious, undying bug. But yes, it should be configurable.

Please make the picture save optional in Transfers and please, save the local
copy, not retrasfer. If needs be, there should be an option for image save
retrasfer. Really annoing. That's why I run 9.50 at work, but will not put
on my home machine.

I do want that feature but only as an option and preferably I would like a transfer tab not to open when saving a picture (but have a downloaded picture on a list).

It's okay, it's really not such a big deal. I have my transfer window set to background so it doesn't pop up everytime I have to save an image.

Well, that's good for you and all, but I've been trying to cut down on my number of open tabs lately.

I used to keep about 30 open at a time, and I was getting tired of the slowdown.

Seriously though, this is a two year old bug? WTH? furious

To avoid retransfer of an image, use Crtl+left-click, and it will save the local copy, I believe.

Or download Opera 9.51 RC3 (or wait for final...), where this issue has been fixed.

nope, still there.

OK, have the most recent beta (July 1) and it appears to have been removed. We will see.

Just to leave my mark, too: I wasn't aware this was a bug.. the images appearing in my transfer windows are images from my RSS-feeds.. I've got lots of RSS-feeds, so now every time I look at my transfer-tab I think "what is all this garbage doing here? I never downloaded any of these?"

There is no way this can be considered a feature or wanted behavior.

Glad to see them out of there. For anybody who downloads lots of images, it really caused a huge clutter if you forgot to open up the transfer wimdow and clear them out regularly.

but opening a .pdf file still (v9.51) opens the transfer tab. so you get an empty tab for the .pdf file and the transfer tab. for what?

I cannot confirm that here, for example when opening this file. My transfers manager is set to "Never show on starting downloads", but no transfer appears in the Transfers tab.

Go to opera:config#UserPrefs|Ignore Target and tick Ignore Target box. This will prevent documents from opening in new pages.

That's interesting, I still have that file in Transfer tab after it's downloaded. I wonder how to make it not to appear there. :)

Don't show the download dialogue or save it to a download folder.
Either open it with the default application or with a plugin.

"Don't show the download dialogue" - are you referring to "Never show on starting downloads" option? I can't see such an option anywhere. And it's still there when I save it to the download folder.

Seems to be working when it's set to "open with the default application". Thanks. I don't know how about "open with a plugin" because Opera doesn't detect "PDF-XChange Viewer" plugin. EDIT: Works just fine now and there is no trace of that file in Transfer tab. :)

of course the transfer tab should not open if you have set "Never show on starting downloads".
i have set it to "open in background tab" and i want to have the transfer tab when downloading files, so i can see how long it will last, but i do not want that transfer tab if i open(!) a .pdf file. in any case: with version 9.27 and the same setting i got no transfer tab when opening a .pdf file.
and even if i say "open pdf files always with this appication" i get that transfer tab when opening a .pdf file.
specifying a download folder is no alternative for me, because i want to save downloads sometimes in this and then in that folder.

thats a good hint - but i still get the transfer tab.

Same problem for me.
Using Opera 9.52, apparently the bug is back.

Some related problems:

- If you close the tab when the image is downloading (again) in the transfers window, the transfer stops. You can resume the transfer, which actually restarts the transfer (form the beginning). The transfer finishes, but the image is not saved !!! At least not in the place you chose, nor anywhere else that I'm aware of.

It's annoying, and a waste of time and bandwidth.
