Opera is completely unusable (bug)

As the title says, Opera isn't working at all. It all started suddenly a couple of days ago, I wanted to go check my email so I clicked on hotmail (using speed dial) and it came up "blank page" and didn't load anything. Everything still works on internet explorer 7 so it's not my connection. It just refuses to load any web page at all and always displays a "blank page":

There's it stuck on loading a few of my pages from speed dial like google, TPU, hotmail etc

I've tried resetting PC, reinstalling Opera, uninstalling it again, deleting eberyting from C:\Program Files (x86)\Opera, deleting cache, temp files etc, ccleaner, turning firewall off, using default skin and registry scan... And it's still not loading anything!!!!

I'm not the only one it's happened to: http://forums.techpowerup.com/showthread.php?p=858596 Same problem descirbied in another forum (thread started by me)

I've tried installing 9.51 RC1 and it does the same thing, I've even reverted back to 9.27 and it's somehow got the sae issue!

I was using it one minute and it stopped working the next. Any help would be much appreciated!

Here's my specs if that helps:

Processor: E6600
Motherboard: MSI P35 Neo2 FR
Memory: 4 x 1GB Patriot PC6400
Video Card: Inno3d 8800gt 512MB
PSU: Corsair HX 620W
OS: Vista Ultimate 64bit SP1

Try creating new firewall rules for Opera version. Some firewalls still block internet access even when they're disabled.

Check your proxy settings (tools->preferences->advanced->network->proxy servers)

Opera might have gotten them wrong - If you don't know what they are, try copying the information and then disabling all the proxies (unless they're already disabled)

Opera once took the proxy settings of a modem connection instead of LAN (or WLAN) settings in a laptop where I installed the browser which also led to non functional internet browsing.

I've tried that already as described in this thread: http://forums.techpowerup.com/showthread.php?t=63956

I connect directly to the internet via an ADSL modem and have never had to touch proxy settings.

This is really annoying, I'm using IE7 and it's lack of functions and general usablilty is making me feel violated. I feel so dirty using IE7.

I was having the same problem you describe, suddenly out of nowhere every page was blank.
I've solved it so far just renaming the folder where Opera keeps your settings. I changed c:\Documents and settings\MyUser\Application Data\Opera to Opera-bck and started Opera again. It just created a new Opera folder and it seems to be working ok.
Hope it helps you.

Careful, you will lose all your personal settings by doing that!!!

Ok, here's the problem (at least in my case).
There is a file called urlfilter.ini in the user preferences folder. In that file there are a list of excluded urls and somehow it has an '*' in it. This prevents Opera from loading any site. After removing that from the file Opera seems to act normally. Give it a try and tell us how it worked out for you.

AHA! Just found 2 fixes,

1. Run in compatibility mode for win 98

2. Delete contents of this folder C:\Users\Oli\AppData\Roaming\Opera

I had the exact same problem today. I was using Opera 9.51 and suddenly it wouldn't load any page. Uninstalling and re-installing did not work. Erasing the '*' from the [Exclude] section in the urlfilter.ini file fixed the problem. What a bug!! I was ready to completely ditch Opera even though I have been using it for years. I just wish other websites worked better with Opera...
