Translating

Hello all.
Is there any effort under way to translate the web standards curriculum to languages other than English?

There is no actual work going on in translating the articles yet, but it is something we are very much in favour of if we can find people willing to translate them. One of the biggest issues in web standards learning is that the majority of the good material is in English, which is of limited use to people that can't read English.

Thanks for answering David. Yes - we are aiming to get translations done in the near future, and we have some (limited )resources available to help do this. I am waiting a little while, however, to make sure that as many corrections as possible are applied to the English versions, before we start on the translations ;-)

Hello all,
I'm Giuseppe, an italian webmaster.
My personal site is: http://www.extrowebsite.com

I'm interested in standard web, css, semantic code, accessibility, mobile.
I saw many articles in the "dev.opera.com" section, all very very interesting, and with this message I would ask permission to traslate someone in Italian language, by writing the link to the original article in my site.

For example I would like to translate "Introduction to The Web Standards Curriculum".
If you can not do it immediately, I would like to translate some article in the "mobile" section, even if they are all to be translated and to raise awareness in all languages smile

I will wait for your reply, hoping it is positive.

Your sincerely,
Giuseppe

P.S. I apologise for my not perfect English language. smile

It would be an excellent idea if Opera Software were into active support of translating these articles into another languages. Here in south America Firefox have many followers due to this very fact, and even myself support it actively on some popular sites, but that is just not enough.

If you guys would need a hand, I can help you with translating into spanish.

PeaceDestroyer, thanks for your help :-)

We are currently looking into how we can support translations by the community in the best way possible. We'll keep you and others in this thread updated.

Hi,

I'm interested in translating the WSC into Spanish in the next few months, as a learning resource at the University I teach at (http://www.uoc.edu), and publish those translations at http://mosaic.uoc.edu/.

Besides respecting the licenses, are there any special things I should take into account?

Thanks,

César

Hi Guys,

I have started translating the Introduction into Dutch and I would like to take on the complete Dutch translation. However, I would also like it to be a community effort: there's a bunch of Dutch web developrs I could contact for this.

At the moment I am looking into some sort of online collaborative translation tools. Any Ideas on Tools/Resources to help us translate the WSC?

Regards, Dave Hund

Hi guys, congratulations for the site. I would like to contribute with Translations into Spanish. I created a small platform to teach network protocols and tools in my collegue CS courses, and as an evergrowing project, it would be great to actually be able to create Spanish documentation on web development.

I'm available for whatever you need when translating into Spanish. I'm really interested in translating some of the articles.

Hello,

I'm don't know if there's an obvious answer. Anyway: what are the needed steps for translating the courses?

Hello Chris,
my name is Roberto Pizzignach and I'm a computer science's teacher in Pordenone, Italy and a web consultant too.
I read your course and I would like to translate it in Italian Language.
I have a collague of mine who is an English teacher and I thinnk that I can put together a small group of students in order to translate everything.
The mission is to teach your course to my pupils and to the others classrooms.
Please, tell me what you think about it.
