Help for Palm Users
Hello guys, I'm a big fan of Opera Mini, since i got my old Nokia 5200 couple of years ago. These days, I've got a Palm Centro, and despite the apparent "abandon" of Palm Inc. itself for the Java Platform, I think Opera is far better that Blazer.
I want to post some suggestion for Palm users, just telling my experience:
(+)First of all, you should get the Java platform for Palm, the support is closed but if you google a litlle bit, you should find it.Here goes a page when you can get it DOWNLOAD
(+)Second, you should change the preference, that's in Preference (on Palm main selection screen)->Others->IBM Java VM:
-Enable 'Use Double Buffering'
-Enable 'Use high resolution coordinates'
-Nothing on 'HTTP Proxy'
And now comes the tricky part
- set the Memory maximum to at least 4Mb (in my case I've got no complaints with 32mb)
- set the Maximum Java thread stack size to 4kb (this is important, don't put it to maximum)
(source )http://www.palminfocenter.com/news/7769/five-tips-to-improve-the-palm-blazer-browser
(+)Finally, you should download opera mini on your Palm, but her goes some tips:
-I've got better results with 4.2 Beta, that with the final version. The last one doesn't even fully install, and when you cancel and get back, OM is installed, but crash too much.If someone knows if you can fix that, just tell me.
-And now some links, to download FROM YOUR PALM's usual browser 4.2 Final,4.2 Beta, the only complaint that I have, is that you have to select your language manually, because in my case even if it does offer the download on my language on the main page and detects my device, it's in english when I download.
I hope this helps any palm user, to enjoy Opera Mini on their device.
I apologize for the crappy english
I think all of your crashes are to the fact that you aren't setting the java thread stack size to the maximum. It needs to be set to the maximum or OM WILL crash.
