As for the resounding defeat, you have forgotten to add the neat little caveat to it; that it was not an official Obama proposal. It was a proposal from Republican Senator Jeff Sessions from Alabama.

^^Since the Reagan administration (that I know of) the opposition party of the presidency has long done this to "take the piss" out of the incumbent. When the Dems controlled both chambers during the Reagan administrations, they did the same with the Reagan proposals. Same for Gingrich and the Repubs when Wild Bill Clinton was the incumbent.

You are misleading our international friends without pointing out that it was actually a mock proposal by a Republican Senator.

Sowiee Dawg, but I think you're confusing Money Added to the National Debt, as opposed to Budget monies requested, approved, & spent. --- which is what I was referring to--the budget(s).

Budget Money Actually Spent 2009 thru 2012 (in Trillions)

2009 was $3.518
2010 was $3.721
2011 was $3.360
2012 was/is $3.796

The total is actually over $10 Trillion, but we need to note that prior to Obama budgets were actually initiated, approved by congress, & signed into law to be spent.

Apart from the simple confusion between the debt vs. the annual budget, I can agree with your post-------& that even though it was actually the President's Budget A-Y, I agree it wasn't 'officially' submitted for democrat Senate approval by the President.

I get out and about OakdaleFTL. No drink no smoking just healthy walking for miles. You should try it but I suspect I would have to walk kind of slow to give you a chance to catch up. In my youth work Boys used to moan I moved too fast and those teenagers couldn't keep up. We could start together with say a short ramble of 25 miles to start with and I will give you the day prior to start off so you can feel you will eventually be able to keep up. Far better type of rambling than the type you are exercising here "auld yin."!

I don't have a problem with the principle of circles either. Our subway here in the Glasgow universe centre is a circle and pleases large numbers according to statistics and the thrid oldest in the world so there's circles for you.

Firstly, I have noticed that Americans on Forums and this includes Forums I am on for hobby activities come on as if the thing is US based and the centre of all life. A victory by either candidate won't satisfy my wants. Sad state of affairs.

Unfortunately there is a big and increasing gap between the system and the people. With the 2 usuak giant big bucks parties making sure that the playing field is theirs they are distancing themselves more from people who feel they are not being represented. Instead they have politicians who aren't controlled by the electorate but by the string puller sin the corridors of Congress. It is a sham and it is sad.

We have more than two parties and thus represent more people than your wonky two-party stitch-up funded by big business and the money barons. We have even had independent MP's elected against the party system so a nice try at side stepping when things are too close to home for you.

Anyway we are talking about your rather amusing system and the President can at times do what he damn well pleases in the great republic. In a sense I shouldn't be too concenred asd to which is elected to the top job in Disneyland, oops, Washington, DC but as it unfortunately sticks it's noce in everywhere in the world there will always be problems. Personally, I think Obama the American-perhaps, will win as the lesser of two evils. Some choice and I don't envy you. What a choice for the intelligent and concerned. The hate spree has had the net effect of slamming and insulting the whistle blowers and victims who through no fault of their own found themselves caught up in a sordid scheme of illegal activity including gun and drug smuggling and murder, perpetrated by the Obama Justice Department and its agency, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms............

The charge of racism has been a common theme with this Administration and some of its advocates in the mainstream media. House Speaker John Boehner, R-Ohio, reportedly stated this very thing and feared that moving against Holder would provoke such charges, according to those close to the Speaker.
Boehner was right as it turns out.
Continuing with the theme of racism are those in the print media who write such things as "House GOP lynch mob votes to hold AG Holder in contempt of Congress."........

Been thinking about the upcoming elections. Not liking the choices. Now it looks like I'm going to flip a coin to see who to vote for. Cthulu looked good until that scandal about his daughter came out, but now he's in trouble. So, maybe the cat.

I know the feeling. Dollars to donuts you vote Romney, but if you vote in Chicago it won't matter.
