That's because checking grammar completely is akin to understanding the language, context and meaning completely which even the most sophisticated AI currently cannot do.
Spellchecking, however, is an achievable task with current technology, so yes, a few simple heuristics (e.g. what I suggested is quite simple) would probably be enough to achieve acceptable accuracy and produce worthwhile results for anyone who feels the need to use such a tool.

Both the current v.10 build and the v.9.60.10447 builds of Opera are affected.
The main page seems to work fine, only an attempt to view the comments causes a loop.
However, since you say it is an issue with 9.60 (and one would presume 9.64 also), this is the wrong forum. Please start your own thread in the Opera browser forum. Thanks.
