Great!Sadly no beta, so maybe http://www.favbrowser.com/opera-10-release-dates-leaked/ is right?
Autoupdate worked nicely, but it's strange that "Minimized Update" is shown all the time, and when I click it nothing happens. I think when the autoupdate download is finished a little popup (like "new mail") should appear, telling you that you should restart.
Another thing is, that the update.exe starts your Opera as Admin what is often the wrong account... Maybe you should look at this:

Also, memory usage is a little bit huge. I have RAM cache set to 60 MB, but it's not so hard to get memory usage over 100 MB. I remember older releases where I set to RAM cache to 60 MB and memory usage didn't get over 70 MB. It was nice, but now it's only story of the past

I'm less disappointed about that fact than I am disappointed that the Opera Desktop Team refuses to say anything about why they don't and they ignore users who ask why . People keep commenting and asking on their blog and here and elsewhere and they completely ignore those questions.

The fonts do not work properly by setting in Opera's Preferences and not even in my CSS.
Directly beneath the "Article/Comments" tabs, there's a "Share" button with a down arrow. Clicking the down arrow should give a list of sites like Facebook, MySpace, Digg, etc. But in Opera nothing happens.
Example: http://online.wsj.com/article/SB123448293075579777.html
I have tried masking as IE/FF. No luck there.

It's a crucial piece of information. Posting about memory issues without mentioning the amount of memory in your system is like posting about a site without telling people the address of the site.

Indeed, the question is a bit like "how does my bank balance influence the money spent shopping?"
I find that Opera uses about 1/4 to 1/2 of total RAM in general.Originally posted by olli:

They may both be the same kind of Javascript problem, but I decided to file two separate bug reports since it's two different actions.

Holy shit! How much ram do you have? 512MB?
I have 2GB and Opera uses MAX 250MB => 1/8. But usually less....

When I launch Opera it crashes immediately after bringing up the main window, but before anything (toolbars or content) is painted.
This happens even after a full reboot, with nothing else running. My machine is an intel machine, but I have tried installing both the universal and the intel only version, and both display the same behavior. I am running Mac OS X 10.4.11 with all the latest updates. Has anybody else experienced this? What further debugging steps should I take?

Confirmed. Whole site seems to have problems with Opera.

Why is it, that Opera renders :hover CSS and the like far slower while the page is loading?
To test what I mean you can open this page http://www.maxogc.net/tribes/t2/master.php while simulating a slow (say 4kb/s) connection.
While the pages is still loading and you hover over the table rows it's very sluggish, but when it has finished loading it's very fast...
This makes Opera feel slow on many web sites. Could one of the devs explain this to me?

Not only is the top bar doubled but also the fonts are wrong...
(If you don't see it well, open the image in a new tab.)
After a reload of the page everything is back to normal...
Happens not too frequently, but often enough to disturb one.

YouTube does it almost always when switching directly from one video to another. Gallery-like sites also do this a lot.
Also the touchtheSky widget displays just a white rectangle since about the introduction of Kestrel (starting Opera v9.5x until the current snapshot). Curiously, it works fine here on Opera v9.60 build 10447, and maybe some others.
Another issue... approving certificates doesn't seem to work, I keep getting this prompt all the time despite ticking the checkbox:

The Berlios certificate issue is because they are self signing their own certificates. BerliOS.CA is not a certificate authority you will find in the list which comes with any browser. Not a Opera 10 issue at all, it does the same as one would expect in all versions of Opera or for that matter Firefox (don't know about IE, it maybe ignores the issue).
Of course, this is the reason why the dialog is displayed in the first place, but why doesn't Opera REMEMBER our choice?

This snapshot incorrectly handles words when adding words to the user's custom dictionary.
The following illustrates the issue. Obviously the word "abcd" is not a real a word. It is provided as an example to help reproduce the issue.
If I add the word "abcds" to the dictionary, the word "abcd" is now marked as being spelt correct.
I hope this helps.

justlocal, what rules do you think are being invoked for "abcds"? Did you specify any...? If "abcds" is assumed (...defaults to) a plural noun, the spell-check is correct. (Artificial intelligence is not a substitute for native intelligence.) If you don't know the dictionary's rules, don't be too put-out when it doesn't know your presumptions.
Indeed - if you add 'houses' to the dictionary, should it add the singular 'house'?
What about for 'mice'? Similarly, the plural of 'roof' is 'roofs' but the plural of 'hoof' is 'hooves'. There are many many inconsistent pluralisations in English.
That said however, the checker could test an unrecognised word with a simple heuristic that checks if the word looks like a plural, and matches it against possible singular forms. E.g. if the unrecognised word matches the pattern '(*)s' and the matched part exists in the dictionary, the word could be assumed to be spelt correctly. This would suffice for most regular plurals (e.g. houses -> house, roses -> rose, cats -> cat, but not mice -> mouse or geese -> goose). It depends on how much annoyance is caused by the checker rejecting plurals (I think you should add singular words to the dictionary in the first place, rather than plurals) compared to how much annoyance is caused by the checker incorrectly accepting mispelled words like "mouses"... which doesn't seem like it'd be a big problem really.
Did the older spelling checker do this already? From justlocal's post it seems like it did, so it would be interesting to know what happened there. Personally I don't use spellcheckers because I don't tend to make enough mistakes (mine are in the content, not the presentation
), so I wouldn't know.Originally posted by Exolon:

Interestingly enough, I just tried turning spell-check on to test out some of its heuristics and "mouses" reads correct ("sheeps", "cherrys", "potatos", etc. read incorrect). Is mouse a verb?

Simple? Look at MS office, by now they must have spent millions getting grammar checking right. Nevertheless, at least in Dutch, it is still largely useless in my experience. There's nothing simple about this.

Certainly, but distinguishing mouses, the correctly spelled verb from mouses, the ungrammatical mice, is not spell checking, that's grammar checking. A spell checker will see nothing wrong with. "I recently bought a couple of mouses as stuffing for my Christmas geas* " Which is clearly gibberish.
*ok, this particular spellchecker does but only because it does not know the word Geas.
