I think that 7 has the best analogies.

Well, based on the results so far Opera shouldn't go with the suspected icon but instead a different one. party drunk 5 and 6 are winning

Voted none. I don't care that much, as long as it looks good on the desktop. As I'm sure it will.
Opera has style.

I simply hope that 1. (the one from the error pages) doesn't become the new icon. It's ugly and totally doesn't fit the new skin.

All of Opera icons i have seen seem to have the same gradient on the outside.
Devs making new Opera logo should think outside of the box. After all it just a "O" just a circle.

Number 4 would certainly silence the "logo is not cool enough" masses. But I think it looks a little bit too much like FF. I like 7 best.

It's a tie, it currently says

5- 18 votes
6. 19 votes

but, one person said the filled the wrong bubble and they wanted 5 instead of 6. so it is 19-19

Am I right that wingogi icon (icon of an internal opera build) is not on the list? I just have it as an *.ico here.

If you had ANY clue. You'd know that Jon Hicks doesn't create the new icon.

Try saving the .ico to your desktop; Opera only displays the 16x16 version (I assume that's because Opera's .ico handling is primarily for favicons).

I voted for number 5 myself. smile

And you think Opera's LEAD DESIGNER would have no say in what the icon looks like? LOL.

The first one's my favourite because it's got a clean design and isn't too glossy. The 5th one's not too glossy either so that's another favourite. I like the 4th one as it has an interesting design, only problem is it doesn't look that much like an O right now, perhaps if the ends of the two branches joined together more.
