Installation of Opera Mini 3.1.2. in a MAUI -based Generic _ MAUI WAP Browser

I bought a chinese phone that seems to be a MAUI -based Generic _ MAUI WAP Browser. I went to mini.opera.com and downloaded the file into my phone. When I went to the file manager, I found the file named "mini.jad" size 1.0 K in the received files folder. I highlighted it and when I touched options there was not a single way to open it, less install it. I have the following options
  • Forward
  • Details
  • Rename
  • Copy
  • Move
  • Delete
  • Delete all files
  • Sort by

How am I supposed to install it? It is a touch phone so it doesn't let me click on it or anything else. Please help!!

Are you sure the phone supports Java Mobile (J2ME)? Some don't.

I tried to input that address sirectly from my phone and it says "unknown host" and it doesn't go anywhere. My PC no problem it opened inmediately. Any other ideas? The file is already in the phone the problem is that it doesn't let me open it to install it.

http://www.handsetdetection.com/devices/properties/MAUI-based%20Generic/generic_maui_wap_browser_ver1 -your browser (preferred markup) is not standard for download so perhaps is not able to run OM.

@ Tata28 - It would help a lot if you could tell us what phone and model you have wink One place to find out if phone supports J2ME is http://www.gsmarena.com/ although, it's quite western oriented, so probably not many Chinese phones listed there.

@ Tata28 - So, no manufacturers name and model I guess?

However, I just noticed Sagrid gave you direct link to download Opera Mini 5 beta:
http://m.opera.com/global/opera-mini-5.0.15650-advanced-en.jar

That's not what you asked for. Please go to this post, find the version you want, and do read the instructions how to change the url in case you want Opera Mini in some other language:
http://my.opera.com/community/forums/topic.dml?id=221224

If any of those (jad or jar files) does not work on your phone, then you probably have no java supported on your phone. Since you can't tell us what is the phone's name (manufacturer) and model, we can't help you to find out what is really the case.

From what has been discussed so far result that .jad files can't be installed and with .jar results in an error. I saw somewhere an application 'jar downloader' for MAUI browsers which in turn is in .jar format bigsmile
