Youtube not working

I haven't been able to load Youtube videos on Wii Opera for several days. Clicking on a video will just bring up the title with a totally blank space underneath. Anyone else having this problem? I hope youtube didn't upgrade their flash....

Of course I have fast internet. Do I wait for the video to load? As I said in my original post *nothing* loads when I click on a video link, *just the title with blank/white space where the video would be.*

Anyways, in the meantime I discovered that clicking on "View this video in a new window" will cause the video to play in full screen.

True My Wii was working fine and fast since the new flash 8 came out. But since the new update came (I think they called it 4.2 , I think) My wii been acting funny since like, it will load slower than usual. or it will freeze or it will not load at all. they need to get rid of their last update somehow.

that is because the wii is barly getting used to it. nintendo will make new updates for the wii to fix these bugs.

The video has always worked fine for me, even after the update. My problem is that I can no longer comment to videos while on the Wii. I was hoping the relatively recent update would fix it. It didn't. Anyone else have this problem?

Remember that Nintendo and Opera aren't responsible for web content. If sites aren't working with the Internet Channel, contact the webmasters of those sites and tell them you want Internet Channel support. Or you can look to see if those sites have alternate versions like how Facebook offers Facebook Lite and Facebook Mobile for example.

youtube is TERRIBLE on opera wii. however other streaming sites work great. youtube xl is very sluggish, videos are choppy. youtube lite as mentioned above works well except you can't make the videos full screen. you can access the desktop version of youtube via googlevideos, however many times the player does not load at all, but you can resize to full screen and the player works but with the same choppy video as youtube xl. i suspect this is an opera problem and not a problem with the wii's capability to handle flash video.

the opera wii in general is extremely slow compared to a proper browser such as firefox. when loading the same site on a wii and a desktop at the same time over the same wifi connection, the wii is clearly slower. i have opera mini on my phone and its also slower than my phones browser.

Youtube did a major update today, the open video in new window option seems to be totally removed so no more videos on my Wii. The new update is awful even on a web browser btw. Apparently they thought they were somehow being brilliant and innovative by rearranging all the links in illogical order and adding extra crap like tedious viewing statistics.

Youtube XL still works but I never liked using it due to its slow loading and poor search options. Also hate XL's distracting playback options display that sits on the video and takes more than a few moments to go away. But I guess I have no choice. Grrrr. Not happy with Youtube right now both as a Wii user and a laptop owner.

There may be more unpleasantness ahead as Adobe and Google are now working together with Adobe bundling Flash with Google Chrome. This could lead to the potential of YouTube being locked out from most browsers except Google-made/approved browsers.

Again that is only speculation right now.

Nah, YouTube won't be locked out. Apple is throwing enough money at them for iPhone and iPad playback using HTML5 video. Now that the newest Opera also supports HTML5 video, we may see the gradual fading of Adobe Flash. One can only hope. Most of the crashing I see with Opera is due to Flash, and I've heard from Mac owners that the only crashing they ever experience is due to Flash.

If Youtube xl video i'm trying to watch doesn't work it skips to another video which really doesn't help much

Only a certain amount of youtube videos work on Wii, because some them use a more up to date flash. Wii and DSi browser both need to be updated. I hope nintendo approves one soon, because I've ran into glitchs.
Sometimes when you have viewed problems from both sides, all you see is different issues but the same problem.

This forum is supposed to be for discussing Nintendo and Opera's Internet channel only:
http://www.nintendo.com/wii/built-in-entertainment/#/internet-channel

So asking things like "When will Nintendo update the Internet Channel again?" or "Can I do this with the Internet Channel?" are some types of threads that are preferred here while asking "What next generation system you want?", or "<game name> for Wii U will rock!", or "What's your Wii Friend Code?" are some of the kinds of threads that are frowned upon here and usually will result in thread locks/post removals for being off-topic to "Opera for Wii" board.

Probably because threads with a last post 101 days or older get hidden in hopes of stopping people from bumping old, dead threads here on My Opera forums. <.<

Unless there's a thread of yours that you need to bump, don't bother reviving any other old, dead threads. Just make a new thread (in the right forum) if there's something you wish to discuss/ask about. I hope you found this helpful. =)

When products become obsolete, there will be less need for forums for obsolete products.

For those on Wii that can't use YouTube in the Internet Channel, get the YouTube Channel instead from the Wii Shop Channel.

You can also consider buying a Wii U (note Opera is not available for Wii U; Wii U uses a Netfront web browser) which will let you view YouTube videos in a HTML5 player. There's also a provided YouTube app that you can use to watch YouTube videos.
