Minimize to tray

Will be an excellent option, if opera browser could b minimized to icon tray. Better still, animate (Like Avast) when loading pages in minimized state.
Will love it :-)

Some applications minimize to tray by default, WHEN the user wants to minimize the, but I want Opera to have a minimize button beside three other buttons (close, maximize, restore, minimize to tray)

like eMule

For whatever reason, this doesn't work here on Windows (XP).

So in order to min. to tray, you have to right-click - go all the way up to 'Hide Opera' - left click.

Of course, one single left click on the tray icon to minimize would be much easier, more comfortable and also consistent with other apps.

One thing you might like to check out is how much memory Opera uses when minimised to the tray, then how much it uses when minimised. These are my current results, though YMMV:

Minimized to system tray (Hide Opera) = 124,276 Kbytes
Minimized to task bar = 6,920 Kbytes

Well, you must not trust the values of task manager.

See http://shsc.info/WindowsMemoryManagement

So actually min. to tray doesn't _really_ free anything.

Nobody said that it did. Minimize to taskbar does seem to do something.

It doesn't matter where you min. it too, the amount of real mem used is always the same and doesn't decrease until you restart.

Use a good tool to measure mem usage like Process Explorer or similar and you'll see what I mean.

EDIT: this is going a bit off topic though...

It would be nice to also have an option to set to minimize to tray when clicking the close button. Normally you wouldn't want to do that, but with Opera Unite (Other people accessing my stuff) the Game changed altogether.
BTW: I changed back because Opera uses so much less resources then Firefox

Using "Hide" only hides the main window from being rendered, minimizing to the Systray calls the operating system GarbageCollection and Resource Disposal/Dumping stuff.

+1 Minimize and/or Close to Systray
