Custom Opera Buttons
Your Skin's Images is a useful resource for choosing button icons.This is the old thread for Opera 9.5 Buttons
You can even specify which Advanced Preference Tab you wish to focus. Hover over a link to get the code you want, e.g. "Show Preferences, 15" is the code you need to show Preferences, Advanced, Fonts. You can add the icons to menus too, if you wish, but they're optional.

Well, after the upgrade to 11.50, the background for these buttons no longer changes. So I have no idea if the option is enabled or not. Can someone please point me to versions that work, or maybe tell me how to update the old ones? I've tried various sites with examples and button makers and widgets and whatnot, but I didn't find what I need.

Yes. I've tried both Opera Standard and Windows Native, as well as a couple of third-party skins.
Here's an example of a troublesome button:
Button9, "JS"=Enable javascript, , , "JS" | Disable javascript + Manage script options

JS This button works on my skins. The hover element is similar to the selected element, but you can tell that the button is enabled when not hovering the button.

For me, the button state is normal in the Appearance window (note the pressed down appearance). But since 11.50 this no longer carries over to the status bar where the button is placed.
I've tested in both Windows 7 and Windows XP — same thing. I don't have any third-party Windows styles, WindowBlinds or anything of the sort. Brand new Opera profiles in both cases; I only replaced the [Customize Toolbar Custom.content] section of standard_toolbar.ini while Opera was closed.
I would appreciate suggestions.
The only way to do it in opera 11.5 seems to be the opera:plugins screen - klick the enable/disable button plugin there and you have the effect.
Question 1: Is there a button action to open the opera:plugins menu?
Question 2: Is there a button action for the disable/enable klick in opera:plugins? (One plugin only, *NOT* the main switch)
I have 2 buttons that I use to enable/disable my UserCss Ad-blocker and my UrlFilter (Content-blocker).
Button0, "AdBlock"="Select user CSS file, 1, , "AdBlock", "Checkbox Skin.Selected" > Deselect user CSS file, 1, , "AdBlock", "Checkbox Skin"" Button1, "UrlFilter"="Set preference, "Network|Enable Content Blocker=1", , "UrlFilter", "Checkbox Skin.Selected" > Set preference, "Network|Enable Content Blocker=0", , "UrlFilter", "Checkbox Skin""
With the 'css' one, the display is automatically refreshing when I tick/untick it.
But with the 'UrlFilter', I have to reload the page each time I use it.
Is it possible to force it to refresh the display whenever I check or uncheck it?
I have tried to add '& Delay, 500 & Reload' for example, in several places,
but it did not work
So, if someone can help...

Thanks in advance.

It opens the page url in the same tab with the http://hidemyass.com/ anonymizing proxy and randomizes the proxies trough all 5 availlable proxies.
Used JS code:
(function(){
var u = 'http://'+ Math.ceil(5 * Math.random()) +'.hidemyass.com/includes/process.php?action=update&idx=1&u='+ window.location.href;
window.location.replace(u);
})();
@theCharlesF
Did you try the "Refresh Display" action too?
blog (en/de) | opera:gpu | houmpäidsch (de) | Extension: cleanPages (en)
I think the only way to do that would be
Set preference, "Network|Enable Content Blocker=1",,"UrlFilter","Checkbox Skin" & Reload + Set preference,"Network|Enable Content Blocker=0" & Reload(<a href="opera:/button/Set%20preference,%20%22Network%7CEnable%20Content%20Blocker=1%22,,-694984494,%22Checkbox%20Skin%22%20&%20Reload%20+%20Set%20preference,%22Network%7CEnable%20Content%20Blocker=0%22%20&%20Reload">Enable content blocking</a> edit name as desired, I try and keep them multilingual)
It will show the current state of URLFilter... when clicked it will enable and reload, when clicked and held, will disable and reload.
9. August 2011, 02:01:09 (edited)
@ Vectronic: it works.
I have slightly modified this version, to keep my original style (not multilingual):
Button1, "UrlFilter"=Set preference, "Network|Enable Content Blocker=1", , "UrlFilter", "Checkbox Skin" & Reload + Set preference, "Network|Enable Content Blocker=0" & Reload
@ Medium:
One needs to hold the click a while in order to disable Content Blocker with Vectronic button. In this way, the reload action works.
At least for me, your button reload the page only when one disable the Content Blocker, but NOT when enabling.
Originally posted by theCharlesF:

Oh, great, thank you!
But I prefer my icons

I have played a while with your button code, but wasn't able to make it reload even when enabling the UrlFilter.
Personally I just use a basic one: <a href="opera:/button/Set%20preference,%22Network%7CEnable%20Content%20Blocker=1%22,,-694984494,%22Widget%20No%20Filesystem%20Access%22%20%3E%20Set%20preference,%22Network%7CEnable%20Content%20Blocker=0%22,,%22Content%20Blocker%22,%22Widget%20Filesystem%20Access%22">Enable content blocking</a> which looks like ->(For the curious: Tile H/V, Content Block, Identify As, Lock/Unlock Speed Dial, Play/Pause Foobar)
Since sometimes I don't want it to reload, I might enable/disable and then open the page again in another tab, etc.
Either > or | modifiers won't work in this case with Reload, as far as Opera is concerned it looks like True > True, or True | True... it can't tell which option to switch to since they both "look" the same.
It would be nice if you could use brackets, like: (Preference & Reload) | (Preference & Reload) that way Opera would be able to evaluate the "result" of each one accurately, or better yet, just: (Preference | Preference) & Reload
But that's more of a feature request and not helpful... lol
I use several yes/no buttons (that is to say ticked/unticked), that's why I have chosen check boxes.

but yes, your button is rather the same as my initial code.
Currently, I am fine with your new 'reload' version,
but it is true that Opera should develop more flexibility for the accepted code.
Sincerely.
Charles.

AFAIK, extensions have no access to the order of tabs either.

I want to add 1 line or 2 to this button:
Go to page, "javascript:UltimateHighlight();"
This button works with uhb25.js. When I push button, an input pops up, then I input key words and push ENTER, and it highlights.
Now I want to change it to:
If I select words in the page, then when I push button, an input pops up, it will automatically: copy , paste, ENTER.
If I do not select words in the page, the button will still wait my input.
Thanks.

Hoped you'd be the one to reply Pesala, always good info, I tried that page with no luck, somehow I obviously did not put things in the proper places. I tried a few things (over an hour or two at the least) and that was the best page of reference I found before I posted here to ask for help. I think I was just very tired when I tried it so I will look at it again when time permits and see what I missed, likely something small that makes all the difference, thanks and goodnight! Now, when I go to the skin config file for the skin I am using and look at [Images] there is so much there I have no clue where to add the needed lines for the intended icons. I tried to go below the [Images] area and simply add the information for the calculator as such:
Calc = buttons/calculator.png
I of course added the png to the buttons folder within the skin, saved the skin config dropped it back into the skin rar and it saves fine but when I open Opera back nothing has changed.
I got lucky with the SRWare Iron and dropped a png into the browsers folder and added Iron = RP7/iron.png to the RP7 folder and it worked perfectly so I am a bit unsure why the other is not except to think I must somehow have added to the wrong area, this is where I apparently am missing the boat. Tried several folder and edited the path and none of them made any difference. If I can simply add that line for iron and drop in a png pointint to that why don't the others work the same? Firefox worked and I did nothing, just noticed it changed from words to the FF icon with the new skin and that prompted me to want the others to be icons as well. Sorry if I am foolishly missing something so simple but I'm a bit frustrated at it not working, this isn't the first time or the third even I messed with this over the past couple of years, this time it finally bothered me enough to post about it cause I REALLY like this skin and want to get things looking nicer all around.

Check: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\App Paths
For instance, in yours you could simply use:
"... ,notepad, ..."
"... ,firefox, %u, ..."
Instead of the full "C:\...\appname.exe" ... I think Iron has one too, and Irfan might as well, but I don't use either.
That way if you have a dual/triple boot etc... you can use the same Opera install between them all, or use Opera more "portably" since "firefox" will point to whatever the valid location is in that setup, C:\... E:\... P:\... doesn't matter where it's installed. Or you reformat, and decide to move %apppath% to something else.
If your "P:" drive is a USB, and you also have Opera installed on it, then you can use relative paths, for instance if Opera is at:
P:\Program Files (x86)\Opera\opera.exe
then your shortcuts/buttons for stuff in the "P:\Portables" folder could be:
Execute program,"..\..\Portables\calc.exe", ...
Each ..\ backs out of the current working directory, starting from P:\Program Files (x86)\Opera\ ... so, ..\ ends up being back in Program Files, another ..\ ends up back at P: ... then forward into \Portables\ and then calc.exe
That way they will still work if you plug that USB into a computer and P:\ ends up being F:\ breaking your current buttons/shortcuts.

Side note:
I use a SSD for the OS/C: drive some apps are installed to C, others to P
A Western Digital 600GB 10,000RPM Velociraptor for the P: and G: and the P drive is Program Files x86 and for 64, the G for games, then backup drives as well, internal (WD Black) and external (various). Inside the P drive for any program I use that is portable I simply have a Portables directory in which they reside.

Thanks, I saw the mess with notepad as well and fixed it, was toying with things and didn't realize I hadn't edited that out. Tried to add your suggested bold items and adjusted the name back and forth and button work but icons continue to elude me sadly, seems I am stuck with 3 of 5 icons, notepad and the calculator just won't accept using an icon like the rest, this is what I have now...

I did change the skin ini to show the full word as shown above, then I did the same for the toolbar ini, I actually now have the skin, toolbar, and actual png all named the same with the entire word, part of why I am frustrated after changing all in all locations 3 of the 5 work. I posted both skin and toolbar ini above and both show the entire words not Calc or NP so I am not sure what you mean about them needing to change, I had already changed both before posting the last time as, before that I was going to use the shortened wording but I decided to just go with the full working so all matched and I'd not run into problems. I really hope there is something simple I have missed but I just don't see it working any better, thanks for helping but it seems to be at an impasse at this point.
This is how it sits right now...

I knew it was something very simple I was just missing, frustrations sometimes get the better of you! THANK YOU, it looks GREAT now and I so appreciate you taking time out to offer the assistance. I don't often find problems that aren't easily solved but this one had been getting the better of me and I knew it was not a big issue but it was certainly a big frustration that is now over and solved and the browser looks better than ever!
Try using one of the many Clock Widgets instead.
