Custom Opera Buttons
Your Skin's Images is a useful resource for choosing button icons. This is the old thread for Opera 9.5 Buttons
You can even specify which Advanced Preference Tab you wish to focus. Hover over a link to get the code you want, e.g. "Show Preferences, 15" is the code you need to show Preferences, Advanced, Fonts. You can add the icons to menus too, if you wish, but they're optional.

If you mean my little website...lol... no idea... so far all I know is that it doesn't like Quotes, and %22, etc... so I have the Switch ("Fix for 10.5") there which will try to remove those, but only for manually edited/created buttons... otherwise it doesn't seem to recognize a lot of it's own commands, that's why they show up as "External Action" or just blank... so presumably, either at, or sometime before 10.5 goes final.
Edit: It's quite strange really, the first one, when added, shows up sort of properly when Drag&Drop, or Clicked... but doesn't work... if you look at the toolbar.ini it adds it as
Button70, "Show popup menu"="Show popup menu, , , "Menu", "Window Browser Icon""likely because "Browser Menu Bar" doesn't have quotes around it, yet if you add quotes, then it ignores the button entirely and won't add it. It's also ignoring "Menu" both in the button command, and in the <i>title="Menu"</i> of the link, but it ignores "First", yet for the second button, if you drag&drop, it will pick up "Second" as the name of the button... :|
These two work if you manually add them:
Button0="Show hidden popup menu,"Browser Menu Bar",,Menu,"Window Browser Icon.hover"" Button0="Show hidden popup menu,"Browser Button Menu Bar",,Menu,"Window Browser Icon.hover""However they both show the same basic menu, even though the <i>Menu.ini</i> has the <i>[Browser Button Menu Bar]</i> in it...

Stop,,,Stop, "Stop"...lol, <a href="opera:/button/Stop,,,Stop,Stop">here</a>
Not sure about a combination one though... possibly:
Go,,,Go,Go > Stop,,,Stop,Stop<a href="opera:/button/Go,,,Go,Go > Stop,,,Stop,Stop">Test</a>?
BTW graphics don't appear when I drag custom buttons on toolbars in 10.5
<a href="opera:/button/Go,,,Go,Go + Stop,,,Stop,Stop">This</a> one works:
Go,,,Go,Go + Stop,,,Stop,StopBut you have to Click + Hold for stop... so it's not good if you you are trying to "catch" a page at like 2% of loading... but for longer loads, it would work fine...
Actually the trailing ",,,Stop,Stop" could be removed...but it won't hurt anything, it's just redundant.

The problem in finding it, is that it doesn't use anything close to the same name as it uses in the dialog, and it uses 2 preferences at the same time...<i>Client Pull</i> and <i>Client Refresh</i>...
Edit: changed the name of the button...
It works splendidly!
I've been trying (unsuccessfully) to figure this out myself for over a year, but an Opera button guru I'm definitely not. I still use Win98 on my favorite system, and given its lack of security updates since eons ago, I find it extremely important to have an array of security-related browser toggle buttons at the ready on my Opera toolbar: pop-ups, javascript, userjavascript, java, plug-ins, iframes, referrals, redirect, etc, etc. For added protection, I browse ordinarily with everything shut down, then as needed I can enable things selectively for certain scenarios to get 'trustable' sites to work. Because of redirects on some of those trusted sites, I can't always rely on site preferences - at least initially, until I can map all the domains involved in any necessary redirections so that I can finally use site prefs on them.
Anyhow, you supplied the last missing puzzle piece - one that's been lacking for some time. Thanks again!

So - the devs, bless their hearts, have provided an opportunity we didn't have before - to pop up one's real menu bar with a tap on the key which already accessed it - a nice little gain.
Note that anyone who wants known-command-tree plus quick-pick list can have both, by changing the order of the two columns: Include Browser Menu Bar, then Breakitem, then picklist. With Menu Bar first, there is no keystroke pre-emption.

[Customize Toolbar Custom.content]
Button0, "Menu"="Show popup menu, "Browser Menu Bar""
Button1, "Clear Private Data"=Delete private data, 1, , "Clear Private Data", "Trash" & Click default button
Button2, "Bookmarks"="Show hidden popup menu, "Browser bookmarks menu", , "Bookmarks", "Menu Bookmarks""
Button3, "Transfers"="Manage, "Transfers", , "Transfers", "Panel Transfers""
I would like to fix the transfers button.
I don't want the panel's ver, I don't like it because it's missing stuff and the layout I don't like either.
I would really like to make this a toggle.
Anyone have an idea?
I've tried myself and I can't get it to work :\.
As for the others, I love the bookmarks one, I just picked that one up today.
The menu button I don't use in v10.50, just v10.10.
I am defently interested in custom drop down menu's.
If anyone can give more examples.
This is my v10.50 View drop down menu button:
[Zoom Toolbar.content]
ZoomSlider5, 1
Button0, "Transfers"="Manage, "Transfers", , "Transfers", "Panel Transfers""
Button1, "Clear Private Data"=Delete private data, 1, , "Clear Private Data", "Trash" & Click default button
Button2, 197832810=Find

Checkbox3, 960290639=Enable proxy servers | Disable proxy servers
Checkbox4, -455450218=Work offline | Work online
I would like somethign like it to replace it in both v10.10 and v10.50.
The view button grey's out on panel views and blank pages.
I need one that doesn't, plus with a custom icon and title(no title..).
Btw, what's with the tab's button on the 1st page?
What does it do?
I'm hesitant to run it on my v10.10, I don't wanna fool with my ini file at the moment after been working on it for a while.
Btw, anyone kow how to mod right click menu's for diff parts of opera?
I wouldn't mind fixing that up on my config...
Oh and btw you can move the opera O button in v10.50, you just need to doit by hand in the ini file.
Example of mine:
[Browser Toolbar.content]
Address0
Button1, 870715797=Go
Button2, -847360260="Back + Show hidden popup menu, "Internal Back History""
Button3, 830055518="Forward + Show hidden popup menu, "Internal Forward History""
Button4, -1393253531=Stop | Reload, , , -1705826954
Button5, 380699176=Go to homepage
MenuButton6
It's MenuButtonX.
Took me a while to find it because it wasn't present by default on my setup, had to dig around looking for default buttons on all the diff toolbars to find it.
I have InFF/InIE custom buttons that don't work anymore in 10.5; my TinyURL button doesn't work anymore either. Whenever I click on it to shorten the current URL, it gives me this:
http://tinyurl.com/create.php?url=
So I suppose in 10.5, the query string has changed? Here's the line in my toolbar.ini:
Button12, "TinyURL"="Go to page, "http://tinyurl.com/create.php?url=%u", , "TinyURL""
I have tried %s instead but doesn't work either. As for InFF/InIE, it just loads up the browsers with its respective homepage and not the current page I was viewing in Opera.
Probably due to the query string as well.

Fortunately, someone noticed my thread on the InIE/InFx and sent me here. Wish I'd known this thread existed. Glad to hear that %u functionality will soon return. Does it also affect clicking on links in emails when Opera's closed? It currently exhibits the same behavior as these buttons, i.e., just opens the program not the page.
(Btw, if I understand the discussion, I agree with others who'd like the drop-down O menu with fewer levels functionally and some of the important stuff at the first level; i.e., I'd like Preferences, Quick Prefs and Toolbars at the first level, out of Settings.)

, can we also get support for ".\" and "..\" as well? For some of the ini files?
example:
Opera Directory=H:\Program Files\Opera\profile
Hot List File Ver2=H:\Program Files\Opera\profile\opera6.adr
Menu Configuration={LargePrefs}menu\standard_menu.ini
Toolbar Configuration={LargePrefs}toolbar\standard_toolbar.ini
Button Set={Resources}skin\standard_skin.zip
Mouse Configuration={Resources}ui\standard_mouse.ini
Voice Configuration={Resources}ui\standard_voice.ini
Local CSS File={LargePrefs}styles\browser.css
User JavaScript File={LargePrefs}styles\user.js
I'de like to convert the rest of them to short form ,run in dir like.
And I figuer might as well convert them all to ".\" type.
Unless maybe I can use "{LargePrefs}" for the top 2 entries there...
Either way I'de rather just use ".\" for them all.
Edit:
Nm, I figuered out this works:
Opera Directory={LargePrefs}
Hot List File Ver2={LargePrefs}opera6.adr
Menu Configuration={LargePrefs}menu\standard_menu.ini
Toolbar Configuration={LargePrefs}toolbar\standard_toolbar.ini
Button Set={Resources}skin\standard_skin.zip
Mouse Configuration={Resources}ui\standard_mouse.ini
Voice Configuration={Resources}ui\standard_voice.ini
Local CSS File={LargePrefs}styles\browser.css
User JavaScript File={LargePrefs}styles\user.js
Still rather use ".\" though for the opera main dir...
But it at least now I can move the opera folder to any location on my drive and it's still run as it was meant to.
This makes sharing with buddies much easier because I don't have to explain what they need to change in the ini files for there installed location.
I'm gonna move the menu, and toolbar.ini files over to ..\styles or some other dir where I can view them all in a single folder...

Well not my previous post, but the one before that was on topic...
Besides, the ini files are closely related to each other in terms of scripting so it was close enough.
Edit...
Button0, "Transfers"="Manage, "Transfers", , "Transfers", "Panel Transfers""
Button1, -773844987="Manage, "bookmarks",,,"Panel Bookmarks""
Anyways would anyone know how to make these switch between the functions they are now and the main window?
One is Manage Transfers, and the other is Manage Bookmarks.
They both open in a new tab on v10.50.
I figuer Id'e use the "|" char but I don't know the command I would use after that.
I would like it to either be the tab or window that it was on before.
Or the main tab or window, whatever needs to be done to make it act right and usable.
Like the panels would normaly do when they closed.
Actually....
If I use a close tab on the OR version...
When the tab is in view it'll close it, when it's not it'll always bring it up even when it's already in a pre-existing tab but not creating a new tab...
That's defently whatI shoudl be doing duh, I'll find the close tab button code somewhere and post back if it works.
[url=opera:/button/go to page,"javascript%3A(js here)",,,icon name](anchor)[/url]
It's due to a bug in forum software that one must escape the colon to %3A.

Re first time: clicking a button installer lets you see the button code on an alert but doesn't install - you have to click "OK" as well for that to happen. So clicking installers is one way to see what's inside. Another way is to click the Quote button below posts which include installer tags.

I have found out how to add them.
Unfortunately, some of the icons are identical or have insufficient contrast with my skin. These include existing icons from the skin.
How can I edit the icon image e.g. colour change or otherwise?

If the icons used in the buttons are not found in the skin that you're using, the icons in the Standard skin will be used. You can add icons to your favourite skin, or edit the existing icons to improve the contrast, (or use a different icon for the button). Your Skins Images
Please see other threads in this forum on editing skins. You will need to use a photo-editor for editing skin images — IrfanView won't do as it doesn't support 32-bit PNG images.

Pity it can't handle maximize/tile properly in a single button. But then the right click scroll is pretty good for previewing many tabs.

this one shows exactly the same menu but if you disable the menu bar the "O" button comes back no matter what:
O -Menu
this one shows the [Browser Menu Bar] not the [Browser Button Menu Bar]

There is no difference. I was not sure if 10.10 had that graphic, but it has.
