OS Drag&Drop support

Opera should really support the following scenarios:
  • Drag a file from the download panel/tab to the desktop/any folder
  • Drag a URL/Link/Bookmark to the desktop/any folder
  • Drag an attachment to the desktop/any folder
  • Drag any file into a file-upload form of a web page opened in Opera

It really bothers me, when I CAN actually drag something, but I can't drop it anywhere sad
Using Windows 7 64Bit SP1 and of course Opera
(If nothing else stated the most current weekly) on a nice Dell Studio XPS 16!

+1. Would be handy to be able to drag images directly into folders.

From what I hear, drag n drop should be cleaned up by Opera 10.5 release.

Yes I too get annoyed and want proper Opera-to-explorer folder drag n drop (to any location) like what I can conveniently do in Chrome. Yes, and too drag drop file to a website's upload field - I and few others have requested this one.

+1 This is such a core usability feature, it should be at least as important as new next-gen javascript engine!!!

I like to drag n drop to anywhere, especially drag to Word or PowerPoint... It will save me a lot of time saving images then insert them to those programs. That job is very convenient in IE.

And also the favicon could perhaps show as the drop target in Opera like the way it does in Firefox:

Example behaviour:

Dragging Favicon / icon from Window title bar => Explorer window / desktop => Creating *.URL shortcut
Dragging images supported too => save to file

Dragging *.URL shortcut to Opera window title bar / Opera window => eg. Open shortcut in new tab

Dragging *.URL shortcut to one of tabs (i mean TAB BUTTON AREA not the tab contetnts!) => Load destination URL into choosen tab

And now we made a step back with v12.
It is not possible anymore to drag&drop url from the address bar, into a new .url file at desktop.
Me angry!
Anybody with a workaround?

From Opera on Twitter:
Too bad to hear that Opera 12 seems slower. It should be faster, but you can always get a different version:

Back to v11.64 irked

All of these scenarios should be supported in a future version.

@ Mitchman
Sounds promising, but we seem to be going backwards. In the previous version we could at least 'Drag a URL/Link/Bookmark to the desktop/any folder' but Version 12.00 can't even do that. Maybe it's been dropped by mistake? Anyway I hope it comes back quickly smile

yes, I had to go back to using version 11.64. but be careful if you use opera mail as you won't have access to it until I guess you go back up to 12. but dragging and dropping url's on the desktop is what I do all day and if I can't do that.... I'll be on 11.64 waiting.....

Good news with Opera version 12.01.

The URL Drag and Drop function is back and you can also drop a URL directly into some other destinations as well as the desktop. It works with Word, Outlook, Windows Explorer, SciTE script editor, and True Launch Bar, but not with Notepad or folders open in Directory Opus. Previously with all these I think you had to go via the desktop first, so this is a welcome improvement.

Thanks Opera...
