html show up in pages

Below is copy/paste of the problem.

Previous article—CSS absolute and fixed positioning

code like — and “ or ≵ plus others show up at random points in the text I am reading.

Can this be resolved? Is it my local problem?

Hi, I'm having the same problem: the character entities are showing in all the articles I've seen in the Opera Web Standards Curriculum.
I want to use these articles, but while they are not completely illegible, they are not easy to read.
