Opera 7.50 Preview 3 for Linux, Solaris and FreeBSD availableHi all,
Opera 7.50 preview 3 for Linux, Solaris and FreeBSD is now available.
Please discuss this release in the opera.linux or opera.os.solaris newsgroups
or opera-linux mail list before submitting bugs to our BTS (Bug Tracking
When you start a thread on opera.linux newsgroup or opera-linux mail list
please do not reply to this message. Instead: Write a subject line that
tells what you want to talk about. That way it is much simpler to keep
track of everything.
- New: Chat File Transfer
Opera Chat now has the ability to send and receive files from other
chat clients. To initiate a transfer, right-click another user's
nickname in the nick list and choose "Send file...". Transferred
files will display in the Transfers panel/window with a green down
arrow if they're downloads and a red up arrow if they're uploads.
- Manage Dialogs are Back
After a lot of valuable feedback, the Manage dialogs for Bookmarks,
Contacts, Links, and History, as well as the Transfer window, are
back. They can be accessed by their keyboard shortcuts or from the
Tools menu. The maximized panels are still available too, and can be
activated using their Ctrl+Shift+# (0 to 9) keyboard shortcuts or by
double-clicking on the panel selector button.
- Improved Threading
Threading of e-mail and newsgroup messages should be greatly improved
with this release. There were some serious problems, especially when
you started a thread.
- SDI Improvements
SDI has received some much-needed attention. For instance, keyboard
shortcuts for opening and closing pages and windows have been improved
and windows close when you close the last page. It should be a much
more comfortable experience for SDI users.
- Fixed Margin Collapsing Issues
The display issues at LiveJournal.com have been fixed. Other web
pages that had large gabs since 7.50 Preview 1 should also display
- Better Message Selection
Opera now does a better job displaying the message most relevant to
you when you open a Mail view. Selected messages are also remembered
across sessions, so you'll never again have to find the message you
were looking at last time you used Opera.

I'm also disappointed to see that I can't browse bugs in bugzilla yet. I did report this bug. All previous versions of opera were fine except starting preview 2.
The browser is still unstable. I can't point to specific sites but it appears to randomly core dump. The core dump is usually preceeded by a "freeze" where the foreground window stops responding.
Opera is continuing to improve with each new release.

I use Slackware and Fluxbox, and when I start Opera 7.5p3, some of the page bars doesn't work. Is this a known problem, is it just my problem, or should I bugreport it?
I can't ctrl-tab to pages either...
I suggest you to open a thread with your question, in this way it can be visualized by more users which can have the same doubt that you have..
I wonder better opera and more simple using.
1. I'd like to see easy custom menu bar support quick proxy function. I always need that.
2. The mail function make me confusing for seach or something else. I consider the mail function is not good enough. I just want to find the function: compose(new),receive, search, thread(order). Other functions of mail had better hide and user could enter an advanced menu. But I love the automatic mailing-list function, it's so useful for me.
More, good luck operaer. ^_^
Recently I have finished the Hindi translation of Opera7.23 for Linux and Opera7.23 for Window and submitted the language files to Opera for review and approval.
My observation on Display and rendering of Hindi in Opera7.5 Preview3 are as under:
Web Pages encoded in utf-8 with Unicode Hindi fonts are NOT displayed with proper rendering.
The text on the Left-hand-side-bar buttons are also NOT displayed with proper rendering.
The text within the Preferences/Bookmark Management etc. is NOT displayed with proper rendering.
The Text on Top Menu bar and the sub menus is OK and displayed with proper rendering.
Hoping that something will be done before the final release to make the Opera fully compatiable for Hindi Display and rendering.
