Opera forums in Opera Mini 5

I'm not sure whether the following forum behavior is caused by a bug in the browser or by poor forum design, because it occurs in the native version of Mini 5 and in Opera Mobile 10, as well, but never in WM5's native IE Mobile:

In a long forum thread, if I follow the arrow link next to the name of the last user to post, it takes me as far as the top of Page 1, even though there are multiple pages in the thread. Once I'm there, clicking on "Go to last post" will take me to the last page, but again at the top. A final click on "Go to last post" is necessary to reach my goal.

IE Mobile takes me right to the target in a single jump -- one of the very few things it does well. wink

I believe it's a known issue, bud. I get the same behavior in Bolt and Skyfire as you do in ie, but not in Opera. smile

Well, at least two of us know about it. wink

When you mentioned Skyfire, I got curious and brought up their forum in Opera Mini. My request for the last post of a thread landed me smack in the middle of the thread. Well, at least I was half way to my destination that time.

So it isn't caused by Opera's forum design, but OM's handling of forums in general. Sure is comforting to know that! lol

Namely it's a problem with Mini's rendering of anchor tags (including scroll bar position). This could be something that can be fixed on server, could be fixed with the next Mini version (5.0.1? , 5.1? 6.0?), or something that requires both server work and a new Mini version to fix.

Better make that 7.0 beta 4. This will allow enough time for correction of the text input problem at the same time, in preparation for the announcement of Opera Mini 8 Final. Of course, by that time our devices will be either obsolete or worn out.

But seriously, I intend to stay with Opera Mini, because it's still a nice browser despite the known issues. Meanwhile, most of my forum activities will have to be relegated to one of the other mobile browsers in my growing collection.

@ SAGRID: if I click on the arrow next to "Webdweller" (who was the last poster before me) Opera takes me to his post just above Ngamer1. Sometimes I don't get so lucky.
Also, if I'm at the top of page one of a multi page thread, if I click on "go to last post" Opera takes me to the top of the last page, at which point I have to click the "last post" link again to actually get to the last post.

Yes, and when I submit a post -- if it actually does go through -- I'm taken all the way back to the top of the page, no matter how long it is.

That too. Also if you edit a post you're taken back to the top of page one.
