In everyday usuage whats the difference between mobile and mini

In a normal day whats the difference in actually using mini or mobile?
Speed?
Data usage?
Types of sites work better in one or the other?

For a normal day I am thinking of say checking:-
1) Web based email
2) News sites - a front page of mainly links and headlines with opening the pages in serperate tabs
3) images - looking at things like Dilbert i.e. one off daily pictures.
4) General social networking so jumping between pages of profile (text and pics), a built in message system and maybe some sort of autoupdating real time status page.

I generally use Opera Mini most of the time because it usually has better compression, but Opera Mobile is sometimes a bit better for advanced sites. I would use Opera Mini for news and reading articles, while I start Opera Mobile if I want to interact with complex Web applications.
